Not to be confused with Silent clubstep or Silent Clubstep by Maus999.

Template:Infobox Level Silent Club is a 1.5/1.6/2.1 former impossible solo Extreme Demon level created by Play 1107696 (blackP2Sfull in-game), who verified it illegitimately. This level is famous for kickstarting the 'Silent levels' trend and is one of the two levels in said series beaten legitimately. It is also the oldest-rated Extreme Demon, published on 1 April 2014.

After almost six and a half years of being unbeaten legitimately, Luqualizer verified the unnerfed version on 29 October 2020. He accomplished this on the 1.9 GDPS (Geometry Dash Private Server)[1] since the unnerfed version does not work in 2.1 due to broken layered orbs. In early April 2021, Luqualizer began grinding a fixed version of the level that worked in the current game update, in which he cleaned up the orb spam section at 46%, got rid of a secret way and fixed the layered orbs. He verified and published this fixed version on 24 April 2021, and the level was rated on the same day.

The completion of the level spawned a significant discussion about the possibility of beating the other Silent levels, leading to a rush of impossible level completions, which culminated in the verification of Silent clubstep.

History

The level was published on 1 April 2014, suggesting an elaborate April Fools' Joke, and was rated by RobTop. After its publication, the level sparked controversy for its brutal difficulty. It was the first Demon to be at the first position in the early era of the Geometry Dash Demonlist back in 2014 by surpassing Stereo Demoness.[2] Only a few players could get more than 10% (at the time, the world record was by Crack, who did 15%).[3]

Eventually, the level lost its rating due to a supposed secret way. It also got eliminated from the list because of its completion being illegitimate. Despite this, many players attempted to beat it. Zobros did 52-100%,[4] claiming it to be an easy task and 'not even hard' in the video of his run. Dark Sary raised the world record to 23% on 30 May 2015.[5] Riot became the first person to beat the first spam legitimately on stream.[6] Even with those runs, the level faded into obscurity due to the birth of more popular Silent levels, such as Silent clubstep, Silent Circles and Death corridor, and attention shifted to those levels.

On 13 December 2017, the player SrGuillester (a player who also beat 'Silentfunk')[7] achieved an unbelievable record of 45% in only seven minutes of recording.[8] In 2017, Superex created a nerfed version of Silent Club by replacing the spam part with an easy straight-fly. This version was beaten by many players, such as Sunix.[9]

Luqualizer verified the unnerfed version by blackP2Sfull on 29 October 2020.[10] He states that the level is insanely unbalanced. 0-42% is around Bloodbath difficulty, while 53-100% is 'Insane Demon' difficulty, and the spam sections carry all the difficulty. He claimed that the level is around Top 20 difficulty. He beat it in a 1.9 private server. The reason is that Silent Club has layered orbs with three orbs on top of each other. In 2.1, it is possible to do two-layered orbs, but not three. The cause for the bugs around 46-50% is due to physic changes in 2.0 that make the level impossible in 2.1. The verification took Luqualizer about 15,000 attempts. He would later verify and upload his version to the Geometry Dash servers with the orb masking bug fixed. However, if the Low Detail Mode option is enabled, the layered orbs with three orbs placed on top of one another reappear within the level.

On 24 April 2021, seemingly out of nowhere, the level received a Demon rating on Luqualizer's account, becoming the oldest level to get the 'Extreme Demon' rating.[11] He would later upload a video verifying his version on 26 April 2021.[12] The rating of this level had a revolutionary effect on the community. It also gave Silent Club the spotlight for the first time in five years and, like the previous rate, caused controversy. Some players said it should not be rated, while others said it should. RobTop had decided to rate the level; it later got placed on the Demonlist. Many players, such as fnm04 and AeonAir,[13] made videos talking about the rating of the level. It was considered a significant moment in Geometry Dash history; Luqualizer's video of his 1.9 completion got more than 20,000 views after the news that the level got rated. Many unknown players, especially mobile players, started trying to beat the level.

On 29 April 2021, an unknown player named Tuggy became the first victor of the newly rated level after 10,668 attempts, stating that the level should be at least Top 30.[14] The next day, NickXD became the supposed second victor with 12,383 attempts.[15] However, due to the poor audio and video quality and the fact that he had lied about verifying other levels, Pointercrate and many others believed that he hacked it and his record was unaccepted. On 3 May 2021, Dr. Joe became the third victor (second to be confirmed legitimate) to beat Silent Club in 28,256 attempts.[16]

Despite being roughly around Bloodlust's difficulty on the Demonlist, the community widely debated the genuine difficulty. GeoDasher and CreatorRiley think the level is overrated. GeoDasher believes the level is easier than Lucid Chaos, and CreatorRiley thought it was Top 40 at the time instead of Top 30. Cobrablitz considers the level underrated, saying it should be above Cognition.

Gameplay

  • 0-5%: The level opens with a three-block-wide spam cube section. The next part of the section consists of a few triple-spikes with mirror portals and requires clicking the orbs inside the blocks to switch gravity.
  • 5-13%: The player enters a tricky ship segment with straight-flying and a few mirror portals. The blocks in the middle of the corridor are four spikes assembled to resemble a block, so the player must not touch them. After a straight-fly, there is a ball section where the player needs timing on some orbs to pass them and reach the next part, a diagonal-fly.
  • 13-20%: There is a mini-cube part requiring timing and fast inputs. Then, there is a timing-based ball section.
  • 20-29%: The player enters a relatively hard mini-UFO part, a small straight-fly section, a hard cube timing part with two seemingly near-frame-perfect jumps and a blue orb requiring perfect timing.
  • 29-35%: Next, there is a ball section with tons of mirror portals and orbs with some easy timings, before the player transitions into a mini-ship where they must straight-fly while normal-size portals and mini-portals make it harder.
  • 35-44%: After a mini-ship segment, the player transitions into a wonky straight-fly section.
  • 44-52%: This is the infamous and most insane part of the level. It starts with a spam section as the cube that requires difficult timings, where the player must go from the lower to the upper corridor of the spam. Next, there is a timing-based section utilising orb masking and a final spam section after a mirror portal. This part is the reason why players used to deem this level impossible.
  • 52-68%: There is a relatively easy straight-fly as a mini-ship, a simple mini-UFO section, and an auto part. It is considered the easiest part of the level.
  • 68-82%: After a tricky ball section, there is a simple mini-UFO section containing gravity portals and a simple mini-ship with the same gimmick, both in a zig-zag corridor.
  • 82-100%: After a dark memory-based maze, there is a simple mini-ship segment before the level ends with a pink background.

Trivia

  • Luqualizer's version of the level is free to copy, while blackP2Sfull's version of the level cannot be copied.
  • The level contains the second least amount of objects in an Extreme Demon, having 7,994 objects, behind untitled unmastered with 947 objects.
  • The level was initially placed at #15 on the Demonlist on 17 May 2021, above Bloodlust and below Lucid Nightmares.
    • This change pushed Ethereal Artifice to the Extended List and Dimension Breaker to the Legacy List.
  • This was the second known rated level to include orb spam after the infamous Heaven And Hell.
  • The creator 'i ViRuZ i' has created a remake of this level, named 'Silent Abyss'.[17]
  • If the level was not unrated, it could have remained at #1 on the Demonlist for almost five years (since only Zodiac was the first-rated Top 1 Demon considered harder than this).
  • The level has an easier remake known as 'Silentium Clavas', similar to Silentium Gradas.
  • The infamous 'secret way' found by Cyclic is technically not a secret way. Restoration Union had brute-forced all versions from Silent Club's initial release to 2.0, and the cube would always miss by a hair space when attempting the blue orb trick. While there is a possibility that blackP2Sfull verified Silent Club using this bug, it is unlikely due to a tweet on Restoration Union's Twitter.[18] Eventually, blackP2Sfull himself confirmed he put that 'secret way' as a joke to fool people.[19] The three potential ways used to verify levels before Silent Club's verification are GameGuardian variable trick, speed hack, and Arduino Bot (lists from most likely to least likely).
  • Despite being considered 'impossible' by the community for six years, two players beat it within ten days after its rating.
  • Despite common belief, the orb spam section can be very consistent if the player trains in spamming. Furthermore, with perfect timing, the player can land and jump off the edge of a spike and save a few clicks. The player can also skip the layered portal with perfect timing.[20] AeonAir made a video with UFokinWotM8 where the latter taught him how to spam consistently.[21] Moreover, in one of his last streams, UFokinWotM8 played Silent Club to show his consistency with the spam.[22]
  • There were numerous unofficial sequels to this level made a while after its release.
  • Silent Club is the 11th former Top 1 in the game's history.
  • The placement of Trotil on 28 October 2023 pushed Silent Club into the Extended List of the Demonlist.
