Thanatophobia is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration hosted by ARtu and verified by Syndrome. The level follows a dark, creepy horror theme, which is matched by the song. The level is known for the debate over its difficulty, with some players considering it a very difficult Insane Demon and others considering it an easy Extreme Demon.

History

The first preview of Thanatophobia was premiered on YouTube on January 1, 2020.[1] This preview showed the completed layout, created by ARtu and hyp3rlink.

Gameplay

This section lists the decorators. The gameplay of the first ship and the drop was made by ARtu, and the gameplay of the pre-drop after the first ship was made by hyp3rlink.

Template:Low-Faith/Section

  • 0%-10% (Kains): The level starts off with a slow ship. As you go through the ship will change from small to big with the music. This is generally considerd the worst part in the level. From 0-3% the player is at 0.5x speed (which really is 0.8x), then after 3% the player goes through normal speed portal and this countinues until 10%.
  • 10%-24% (Maitnary):
  • The part starts off with 2 orb timings afterwards the player hits the large portal and goes at 2x speed (1.25x) followed by a red, green, and black orb timings. The player then is a robot which is followed by a UFO sequence of taps with arrows. The player either taps once or twice on the platform. Then the easy pending ball section with a long dash orb follows it.
  • 24%-38% (guleshelt):
  • This part starts off with a pink dash orb and a pink orb, then the player goes from spider to UFO then becomes a robot, afterwards the player is returned to a cube and hits a green dash orb followed by a small yellow gravity portal. This part countinus with more orb timings and spider timings. At 36% the red orb timing is hit it low and then followed by a breif flying section at 38% where at the yellow portal tap 2 times and hold for the yellow jumporb.
  • 38%-44% (Chaeyeon):
  • This is the last time this level will ever have 0.5x speed. The timings here are hard which make progress tough. This part slows down with the music, and has 2 pink orb timings, a blue orb, and a very very short strightfly. Afterwards the player holds a dash orb with the music "WE ARE YOUUU". Afterwards the drop begins and goes on until 100%.
  • 44%-53% (RealVet):
  • Generally considered the easiest and most fun part of the level (except 46%) it is well synced and has several satysfying moments. The player first holds a dashorb then the hard 46% part comes, afterwards the UFO is clicked with the music which follows a black orb to transform into a ship at 50%, afterwards it turns back into a UFO: 2 jumps upsidedown, 2 jumps right side up.
  • 53%-64% (Voltex):
  • This part starts off with a green orb wich transforms into a tough flying section at 55%. The player should potion themselfs at the arrow let go to make the timing at 56% easier. There are 2 green orbs and this is considerd the hardest part in the level by many. Hit each orb at the center then do a countroled spam at 57%. Afterwards there is a green orb followed by a tough ship section at 60% with a flip gravity and pink dashorb. Afterwards, the UFO at 62% with 2 taps and a green orb. This part is noted to have trees and a hunted sean in the background.
  • 64%-75% (Zipixbox):
  • The next part is quite fun. It starts with a UFO then a ship then a green orb. Afterwards the player is transformed into a tight ball section at 68% where there are several hard bits. When the timings are over a quick yet tight flying section follows. Afterwards there is a robot part where you hit a pink dashorb and yellow orb. Lastly there is a black orb and green orb as an icon which transforms into the next section.
  • 75%-86% (itami):
  • The ending of the level comes at you fast. Alot of youtubers died here: Juniper, EVW (last botton), Syndrome, and deetusy3letus. It starts off as a ship where you have to hit a yellow orb then black orb. Then a quick breif UFO which transforms into a robot. The 80% ship is you douge 2 ats then strightfly at 81%. Afterwards you become a cube with several green orbs and dashorbs. The level ends with a pink dashorb at exactly the 6/7 mark.
  • 86%-100% (NaimNaro and guleshelt):
  • This part is an auto where a yong girl and a seemingly monster appers in the background. This part was also created by the same person as 24-38% (guleshelt). Afterwards there is a detailed background of a hunted forest for a few seconeds and then the level ends.
