Aerial Gleam was first previewed after Aquatic Auroras was verified. However, it was eventually scrapped before being completely remade. After finishing, the first verifier was [[Riot]], who eventually dropped it due to inactivity on his channel. Aerial Gleam is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level hosted by EndLevel. It is the sequel to Aquatic Auroras and the third instalment of the Weather Trilogy. The level was previously set to be the hardest Nine Circles level.

Doggie initially verified Aerial Gleam on 25 April 2022.[1] He would later verify a nerfdate of Aerial Gleam on 24 August 2022,[2] as EndLevel wanted the level to be around Top 20 difficulty. It was placed at #11 on the Demonlist at the time due to Doggie buffing it from what he believed to be Top 50 to Top 20. He considers the nerfed version would place around SARY NEVER CLEAR on the Demonlist. Despite this, the nerf-date's difficulty is still comparable to Zodiac.

History

[edit | edit source]

Aerial Gleam was first previewed after Aquatic Auroras was verified, using the song 'Blacklight' by NIGHTkilla (Rukkus). However, it was eventually scrapped before being completely remade. After finishing, the first verifier was Riot, who eventually dropped it due to inactivity on his channel. Later on, it was set to be verified by Lime, who got a run of 42-100% twice, then reached 50%; he ultimately dropped it because he disliked the level before passing it to Combined, who would also drop it after only a few days as the verifier. Rainstorm was the next person to receive the level; he made only one run in 49-100% in less than a week before dropping it as well, before he passed it to Alphanetic, who was previously making speedy progress afterwards:

Alphanetic made two runs, 34-76% and 42-100%, in less than a week; he would eventually get 42%, 48%, 52% three times, and 56% later on. He would achieve a 60% run, then a 70%, before nerfing the level to Top 15 difficulty; however, he buffed it back to Top 10. After this, he got 76% and 87%; his closest record off-stream was 88%.[3] However, as for Alphanetic, he eventually dropped the level; he explained that he could not get any farther due to his mental health issues before passing the level to Slithium. Slithium would then buff the level back to Top 1, rivalling Tartarus; he later got 88% off-camera three times before he would drop it and pass it to Orizu, who would also drop the level only after a few days of having it.

After the level was given to Prolix, the level was redecorated by CuLuC. His renovations included gradually increasing the level of detail in the decorations throughout the level. It was also slightly nerfed to Top 10 difficulty.[4] Prolix got 52% and 34-100% twice before dropping the level; however, Prolix buffed it to Top 3-5, making it harder than Trueffet; he then achieved runs of 51%, 42-100%, and 16-77% on the buffed version. Prolix would later drop the level, likely due to a lack of motivation.

The verification would later be passed to Chattative; he then would get 54% and a run of 24-100%. However, he dropped it due to demotivation and eventually quit the game; the verification was passed to Doggie, who verified the level after 21,896 attempts on 25 April 2022,[1] thus making the verification process over after 10 verifiers; Doggie verified a nerf-date on 24 August 2022.[2]

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-34% (EndLevel + CuLuC): Aerial Gleam begins with a difficult ball segment that leads to a short ship section requiring the player to click and hold after a yellow orb and click and hold again at a blue orb. The ship part ends with a straight fly containing gravity portals in between. Next is a short auto cube transition that makes the cube bounce up and down from invisible gravity pads while lightning strikes appear on the screen (which some of the level's following cube transitions also mimic), leading to the drop. The drop begins with arguably one of the hardest wave sections of all time. The wave begins at quadruple speed (and contains a brief dash orb at half speed) before slowing halfway through, then changing to triple speed afterwards. The wave section also features several gravity changes. Then, there is a tiny auto-cube transition that leads into a second wave section containing difficult timings and several gravity-, speed-, and size changes.
  • 34-63% (Antares + CuLuC): This part starts with a cube jump and a green orb that leads to another challenging wave with more tight spaces and difficult timings. After this, there is an auto-cube segment that leads to another wave, which in turn leads to a final auto-cube section before the next part appears.
  • 63-83% (El3cTr0 + CuLuC): This part begins with another tight wave segment containing several gravity- and speed changes. It eventually leads to another auto cube section, which in turn leads to the last wave section containing the level's heaviest effects, with a lot of lightning effects, colour- and screen flashes, as well as shake effects. One last auto-cube section then leads to the final part of the level.
  • 83-100% (Deadlox): The final part starts with a simple cube section containing a few orbs and timings. After holding a pink dash orb and timing a black orb while holding down, the player is led to a ship section containing a straight fly and two gravity changes. Then, a brief cube section with a single green orb click is followed by a ball segment with timings. Next, the player is led to a ship section at normal speed, with many sawblades moving slightly, followed by a final straight-fly section, after which the level ends.
