Fexty is a 1.9/2.0 Extreme Demon level by Ozpectro. The level was originally rated for only a few weeks, becoming one of the hardest Demons in the entire game before having its rating revoked due to Ozpectro's verification being hacked,[1] with the level remaining unbeaten until Irish player SkyJax verified it a year later on 8 October 2016.[2] Fexty is infamous for its extremely difficult wave part at 50%, and for being one of the hardest levels released in Update 1.9.

The original, now unrated version of the level on Ozpectro's account is currently a nerfed version considered around Insane Demon difficulty made shortly after the original level's unrating. In contrast, SkyJax's version is the original unnerfed version, reuploaded and rated on his account.

History

Fexty was originally hack-verified and uploaded by Ozpectro sometime in July 2015,[3] and was rated on 3 August. At the time of release, this level was considered one of the absolute hardest levels in Geometry Dash.

The level itself, due to its extreme difficulty, immediately raised suspicion; it had several parts which were considered near-impossible for any player to pull off, in particular, the triple-speed wave part at 50%, which, at the time, could be said to be one of the hardest sections in any rated level. On 7 August 2015, thanks to the unrating of Sonic Wave (and the fact Bloodbath was still in the process of being verified), Fexty, for a brief period, became the hardest level in Geometry Dash, thanks to there not being any levels that rivaled it in difficulty at that time, though this privilege would only be short-lived, as only five days later, on 12 August, Riot verified Bloodbath, taking the #1 spot from Fexty.[4]

Eventually, only a few weeks after Fexty's rating, at the beginning of September 2015,[5] the level was unrated as Ozpectro confessed to hacking the level, as well as the fact the level had not been beaten by anyone at that time, giving even more reason to unrate it.[6]

After a short while, and the unrating of Fexty, Ozpectro decided to update the level to a nerfed version considered to be around Insane Demon difficulty, mostly nerfing the most difficult parts to make the level more possible, with the intention of getting the level rerated.[7] However, despite this nerf, RobTop never rerated Ozpectro's version of Fexty, and the unnerfed version of the level would remain unbeaten.

A few months later, around mid-late 2016, an Irish player by the name of SkyJax began attempting to beat the unnerfed level on 60Hz, showing good progress, including getting the level down into two runs (51% and 50-100%). On 8 October 2016, after a fail at 96%, SkyJax verified the unnerfed version of Fexty, which could have been one of the hardest Demons in the game had it been rated at the time.[8][9] Subsequently, Fexty regained popularity thanks to it being beaten legitimately. The level, which had been unrated for a little over a year, was finally rated on 10 February 2018.

Description

Fexty begins with a mostly straightforward cube section with a few tricky timings, which immediately leads into the drop, starting with a short ship sequence often considered quite frustrating, as the player descends into a short wave corridor and is led into another ship, this time in dual mode. The ship above frequently hits blue pads, changing the gravity of the lower ship, making the part more disorientating and tricky to pass.

Afterwards comes a brief straight-fly sequence at half speed, followed by a half-speed wave segment with very tight gaps. Then, as the player enters into a fairly straightforward cube segment, similar to the first cube, they are thrust into double speed, and then encounter the infamous triple-speed wave sequence at 50%, notorious for being extremely difficult, even to this day, and being considered to be by far the hardest part of the level.

Once the player passes the infamous wave, they must navigate another difficult part, a tight swing-copter section at triple speed, then going into a portal that ends the dual, leading into a triple-speed ball section with some orb timings, then leading the player into a cube segment, which slows them down to half speed briefly into an auto part, then quickly thrusting them back to triple speed, as the player navigates a cube section with very similar to design to the first part of the level, with many portals and orb timings thrown in, until the player jumps into the last section of the level, a half-speed ship section, consisting of a long straight-fly corridor, until the player is thrust into an auto cube sequence with a triple-speed portal, ending the level with a text saying 'GG'.

Gameplay

Trivia

  • The unnerfed version of Fexty was rated on 11 February 2018, taking over 16 months to be rated.
  • Fexty was placed at #45 on the Demonlist on 11 February 2018, above The Hell Dignity and below Novalis.
    • The addition, along with Demonicat and TeaM Z, pushed Hydraulic Overdrive, Hate War, and The Secret Box into the Legacy List simultaneously.
      • Both Demonicat and TeaM Z had also pushed Bloodbath out of the Top 25 on the same day.
  • Ampl1fy is the first to beat Fexty on mobile in 6,839 attempts.
  • The unnerfed version is about three to four seconds longer than the nerfed version. The unnerfed version contains a tight straight-fly corridorg. This corridor was removed in the nerfed version.
  • Fexty has an official sequel known as Fexty II, verified by Kandai on 5 March 2022.[10]
  • Fexty is the second rated Extreme Demon to be Medium length, the first being Sakupen Hell.
  • Fexty's decoration has some parallels to WOOGI1411's creating style.
  • The official/unnerfed version of Fexty is the 17th former Top 1 in the game's history.
    • Fexty is also one of the shortest-lived Top 1's in the game's history, only spending five days at the top spot.
  • The placement of Generic Wave on 28 May 2019 pushed Fexty into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
    • However, Fexty returned to the Extended List after the Demonlist increased from the Top 100 to 150 in June 2019.
      • The placement of A2Marbl on 11 March 2020 pushed Fexty back into the Legacy List.

Notable fails

  • SkyJax failed at 96% on the unnerfed version of Fexty.[11] It was considered one of the worst fails in the game's history at the time, along with Mefewe's 98% fail on Sonic Wave and knobbelboy's 98% fail on Bloodlust.
  • FinnStreams failed at 82% twice, in front of his friends due to a pink orb being 'absolutely horrible and was made by Satan himself'.
