Sakupen Hell
Sakupen Hell is a 1.9/2.0 Extreme Demon level by Noobas, which he hack-verified. It was created to challenge both Riot and Cyclic, who, at the time, were considered the best players in the game. Another player, TrusTa, later verified Sakupen Hell legitimately and published it on 14 August 2016.[1] The level's appearance is likely inspired by Cataclysm. It was once considered one of the hardest levels, rivalling and later surpassing Bloodbath. A buffed and extended remake, Kenos, was hosted by Bianox and released in Update 2.1.
History
[edit | edit source]Sakupen Hell was created after TheMuteTroll exposed Noobas for hacking.[2] Around that time, Cataclysm was beaten by several experienced players, namely Riot and Sandstorm (and famously hacked by Cyclic, believed to have beaten it legitimately at the time). Noobas was discontented that a hacked level had been rated, especially since everyone claimed he had hacked one of his levels, Theory of SkriLLex, though he had not.
Eventually, Noobas decided to create Sakupen Hell, a new Extreme Demon, in an attempt to take Cataclysm's and ICE Carbon Diablo X's spot as the hardest Demons (at the time). Noobas mentioned that he would openly hack-verify the level, as he claimed that he had the 'rights' to do so since Cataclysm at the time was also verified with hacks,[3] calling it a 'challenge for Cyclic and Riot'. On 8 June 2015, Sakupen Hell was hack-verified as expected and released.[4] Later that same day, L Legend (rumoured to be Noobas himself) beat the level with speed hacks.[5]
When Update 2.0 was released, Noobas updated the level, adding a near-impossible wave dual segment to replace the final straight-fly mini-ship segment.[6] Afterwards, the level got deleted as Noobas attempted to turn over a new leaf to be a legitimate player. It was later revealed that RobTop deleted the level because he disliked its existence.[3]
Initially, Riot tried the level but later stepped down and announced his departure. TigerXero (then known as Furry Dash) also attempted it but made little progress. TrusTa was the first to make significant progress and revived the level's popularity after finally verifying and publishing it on 14 August 2016, in 22,199 attempts, though with a slight nerf to the first mini-wave segment (making it slightly more spacious).
Description
[edit | edit source]- 0-16%: Sakupen Hell begins with a moderately difficult double-speed cube section containing an alternate way where the player is not required to hit all three blue orbs in the beginning; they can hit only the first by timing it late and still proceed. Afterwards, the speed changes to triple, and the player must pass a one-second-long, difficult mini-wave segment, followed by a difficult mini-ball part.
- 16-29%: This part is a difficult wave part with critical timing and extremely tight spaces. The player needs extraordinary wave skill to navigate it successfully.
- 29-40%: After the wave segment, the speed slows down, and there is a simple mini-cube part with a couple of fake spikes. Then the speed triples again, and the player enters one of the most difficult mini-wave parts.
- 40-74%: Afterwards, there is a UFO section with tight spaces and gravity portals. Then comes a normal-sized ship part with tight corridors. It leads into a mini-ship part as the song drops, accompanied by orbs, some of which are inside gravity portals.
- 74-89%: Then, there is an easy mini-UFO/mini-ball mixed dual segment at half speed. The dual segment is the easiest part and only requires the player to spam in a controlled manner. After this, the speed increases to triple again, and the second difficult mini-wave part is almost identical to the first.
- 89-100%: Afterwards, there is a long upside-down mini-ship straight-fly sequence. Finally, the creators' and verifiers' names appear (Noobas and TrusTa), and the level ends.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Upon the creation of the modern Demonlist on Pointercrate on 4 January 2017, Sakupen Hell was placed at #2, above Bloodbath and below Artificial Ascent.
- Sakupen Hell is regarded as the 23rd instance of the hardest rated level in the game's history.
- Sakupen Hell is the first Top 1 level to be openly hack-uploaded as an open verification, a trend that continued with many other difficult levels.
- Sakupen Hell is the first Top 1 Extreme Demon that is Medium-length.
- Also, both Sakupen Hell and Sakupen Circles are Medium-length Top 1s that use the same song.
- DashY is the first person to beat Sakupen Hell on mobile on 25 July 2021 in over 4,000 attempts.[7]
- Sakupen Hell received an honourable mention in Geometry Dash Today's list of 'The 100 Greatest Geometry Dash Levels Of All Time'.
- The first mini-wave part was much tighter and near-frame-perfect for the wave to pass through in the first version of Sakupen Hell. The level was considered practically impossible from this point. However, that segment was nerfed in the rated version.
- The third and fourth wave parts are almost identical in gameplay and design.
- The final part was a mini-ship straight-fly segment in the first version of the level. However, when Noobas re-uploaded it, he changed it into a triple-speed mini-wave dual spam section, considered virtually impossible for its time. The final version reverted it.
- The last wave dual segment has been completed by a few skilled players, including Zylenox, taking them hundreds of attempts alone.
- npesta is also trying to beat the last wave dual at the end of every 'Waving With npesta' video. He has yet to do it.
- The original level by Noobas was deleted from the servers during Update 2.0, meaning it was no longer available on online servers. TrusTa re-uploaded the first version, but it consists of a slightly wider tunnel in the first mini-wave segment.
- There is an error in the mini-wave sequence at 23%, where there is an inverted spike slope sticking out of the bottom of the pit.
- L Legend speed-hacked Sakupen Hell after Noobas hack-verified it and published the video to YouTube, gaining thousands of views, as it was one of the first views of the full level available at the time.[5] L Legend is widely thought to be Noobas' alter ego.
- Sakupen Hell is considered significantly harder than Bloodbath due to its critical timing and insane wave parts. However, Riot refused to dethrone Bloodbath on the Official Extreme and Insane Demon Records List for a while, amid much controversy.
- Despite this, Sakupen Hell eventually became the level to dethrone Bloodbath and its year-long reign as #1.
- TrusTa said that Sakupen Hell is harder than Bloodbath. Surv, however, has the opposite opinion.
- TacoMacho claimed to have beaten Sakupen Hell legitimately, beating it successfully with 20,935 attempts, but he was later exposed for hacking.
- MaleVeronica initially claimed that he beat Sakupen Hell and some Insane Demons, but he later confessed that his level completions were hacked.
- Bianox has hosted a mega-collaboration extended remake of Sakupen Hell titled Kenos, verified by npesta on 14 December 2019.
- There is a Medium Demon remake of Sakupen Hell with a humorous name called Sakupen Egg, created by Sivlol.
- There is a parody remake of Sakupen Hell called Sakupen Joy, created by sparktwo.
- There is a blue remake version of Sakupen Hell called Cryothorn Hell, having near-identical gameplay with more prominent changes in the second half of the level, especially the final wave sequence.[8]
- Sakupen Hell is #59 on the Low Refresh Rate Demonlist, above Quantum Processing and below RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY.
- It is also #35 on the Mobile Demonlist, above The Reaper and below Icotact.
- TrusTa's reaction verifying Sakupen Hell was in SiKky's extra reactions list on his Top 150 Verified Reactions Video.[9]
- Sakupen Hell was once the hardest Demon beat on a controller after Zylenox completed it on 12 December 2017.
- Although npesta quickly put Sakupen Hell in F-Tier in his Extreme Demon levels Tier List video, he said nothing about this level.[10]
- There is a redecorated remake of the true unnerfed version of Sakupen Hell called 'Iron God', primarily taking the two prominent unnerfed sections of the two older versions—the tighter first mini-wave and the dual-mini-wave spam at the end, additionally removing a transition slope at the ball/UFO dual—into one level. Player 99 verified it on 17 May 2024 after 195,211 attempts.[11]
- Not to be confused with another level named 'Iron God', which is a redecorated version of the old Sakupen Circles created by Muffy.
- ywuChaos followed up by beating the original second unnerfed version on 12 July 2025.[12]
- Sakupen Hell is also currently the shortest former Top 1 level in terms of level length, beating Sakupen Circles by a second.
- The placement of OPSM1 on 7 May 2021 pushed Sakupen Hell into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
