Mayhem is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by Vernam, created by the members of Cherry Team, verified and published by LordVadercraft on 7 August 2022.[1] It is the official sequel to Caution. It began development after Cherry Team's other project Firework was verified. The level is city- and construction-themed, primarily using shades of yellow and grey. Like Firework, it is considered very sync-based, though not the level's main focus. The level received criticism for its unconventional gameplay.
Description
- 0-10% (Vit12): Mayhem begins with a long cube and robot section utilising moving city-themed structures. The player must hit orbs very late and carefully hold down on dash orbs. The part contains many speed changes, but they are invisible.
- 10-24% (synd): The player is then flung into synd's part, which consists of quick timings using the ship, ball, and UFO game-modes. The player must make inputs to the beat of the song while going through invisible speed changes. This section is regarded by many as the hardest part in Mayhem.
- 24-39% (Konsi): After exiting a wave part, the player enters Konsi's part, which is very sync-based. The part focuses on repetitive gameplay to match the song's build-up. It starts with a ball section, followed by a spider section where the player needs to make quick timings between several structures. When the music speeds up, the player becomes a UFO and must hit orbs quickly. This segment may be confusing at first because of invisible teleport portals. At 36%, the player must hit several trigger orbs and enter a short mini-wave section.
- 39-57% (DMSD): After a title screen, the player enters the drop and DMSD's part. The part consists of many repeated gameplay segments, such as short dual-cube timings, tight ship timings with orbs, and cube timings with yellow orbs. At 56%, the player enters a transition segment with tight wave timings.
- 57-74% (Sauzzeth): Sauzzeth's part is very effect-based, with glowing structures and long caution tape appearing on the sides of the screen. This part focuses on sync, with fast timings across all game-modes. Some stand-out sections of the part are the spider timings with black orbs at 62-64% and 71-73%, the tight UFO timings between spikes, and the tight wave section at 73-74%.
- 74-90% (Enely + Thrasher): The final part of Mayhem, made by Enely and Thrasher, consists of extremely fast orb timings. The first two sections of the part are mini-cube and spider, with a dash orb between them and one afterwards. At 83%, the player enters a robot section before a UFO section, both with tight orb timings. At 88%, the player becomes a mini-cube and must jump over spikes and hold down on a dash orb. The level ends with one more jump over a long strip of spikes, which can be done if the player lets go of the dash orb at the right time.
- 90-100% (Sauzzeth + Vitchrose): The end screen of Mayhem displays a crane with the Cherry Team insignia holding the 'AY' in the title 'MAYHEM'.

Trivia
- Mayhem was rated on 17 August 2022 and placed at #10 on the Demonlist on 16 September 2022, above Sonic Wave Infinity and below Tartarus.
- This addition pushed Spacial Rend into the Extended List and Fabrication into the Legacy List.
- Mayhem has gone through several verifiers, including Cursed, Terakot, Victurkey, and RicoLP.
- Victurkey's name was initially misspelt in the end screen as 'Vickturkey'.
- The placement of Voltage on 1 March 2026 pushed Mayhem out of the Top 50 of the Demonlist.
