Spacial Rend is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by Eclipsed and created by the members of Team Umbra, verified by DiamondSplash on 24 December 2017.[1] It is the sequel to Arctic Arena. Upon release, the level was featured and placed at #7 on the Demonlist before being shifted to #2, behind Bloodlust.

History

[edit | edit source]

The first trace of Spacial Rend was actually during August 2017, when several members of the mega-collaboration started uploading videos of their parts in Spacial Rend.[2]

However, Spacial Rend generally did not get much hype by the community until 19 October 2017, when DiamondSplash uploaded a full preview of the entire level and said he would be the verifier. This level then received decent attention, with DiamondSplash's video reaching over 37,000 views.[3]

Eclipsed then uploaded a visual trailer of Spacial Rend in December 2017,[4] while DollarC uploaded another full preview video, noting the level now had minimal visual updates.[5] At this point, Spacial Rend was pretty much finished, and it was ready to be verified by DiamondSplash.

DiamondSplash made progress quickly but did not show any progress videos until he got 75%—a massive and breathtaking record.[6] DiamondSplash continued to practise Spacial Rend until 24 December 2017, when he finally verified Spacial Rend after 14,930 attempts.[1]

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-2% (Tsukifuto): Spacial Rend begins with the appearance of the LDM (Low Detail Mode) next to a robot at single-speed, which has a crossing that requires jumps in the indicated places, timings and the orbs, to avoid floating structures and columns full of spikes. At the beginning, Tsuki's name is written just before jumping. This part features a decoration of white, blue, and black tones; the design of the blocks is quite elaborate, giving it a futuristic effect. Besides that, it is supported by environmental effects.
  • 2-4% (Alex PG): Alex's part starts with a mini-spider segment of the same speed where the player must make quick movements through obstacles, such as walls with blunt objects and close, besides doing a complicated timing of orbs. The part ends with a green dash orb and then a pink dash orb, with the name Alex PG appearing. This part is entirely dominated by dark pink and black; its decoration is a stellar/spatial style, with many details in the structures, giving the environment a 'mechanical' aspect.
  • 4-7% (Vapen): The drop starts with a mini-cube at quadruple-speed. In this part, the player must navigate a complex path that involves jumping from ramps and orbs with gravity changes, and making specific jumps onto ramps. While dodging skewers present in structures, the level changes in severity and speed. In the middle of the journey, it expresses the name Vapen. This part has simpler decorations than the previous ones, but it has effects like flashes and movements. It has a style in its basic yet original structures; its structures feature small details of light in the form of lines, creating an atmosphere of movement and flashes.
  • 7-11% (123ev4n): 123ev4n's part starts with the same cube gameplay but at double-speed, driven by a ramp and an area full of orbs in which the player must touch the correct one. The level then transitions to a brief wave section, indicating the player must fly straight between two columns. Next, in a ship section at triple speed, the player must straight-fly through a narrow path of spikes (besides being able to appreciate the name of 123ev4n and the phrase 'straight flying of'). Then, the part ends with an inverted robot that must be propelled with great precision from a ramp through two spiked structures. The player then must jump into green and red orbs. This part features decorative elements based on the details, both in the structures and the setting; it has a cybernetic style, with various colours predominating, such as blue, orange, yellow, and purple chrome.
  • 11-22% (Logic + Lazuli): After 123ev4n's part, Logic's starts with a cube section filled with man orbs and spikes. Logic's name appears at the end of the cube section before a brief double-speed wave part appears. Next is another brief robot segment that transitions to a triple-speed cube section, followed by LazGLC's part starting at 19%, with a brief cube segment that requires difficult orb timings and an awkward, tight ship transition.
  • 22-29% (Cyber): Cyber's part starts with not-too-bad ball timings and then transitions to a difficult straight-fly ship section, which is seen by some as the hardest part of the level. It also requires difficult orb timings.
  • 29-35% (YakobNugget + Nahuel2998 + 123ev4n): YakobNugget's part includes more difficult cube timings and then transitions to more straight-fly ship segments with difficult orb timings. It then transitions to Nahuel2998's part from 32%, which includes a difficult tight ship, but after a single ball Timing, it transitions to 123Ev4n's Second Part. In this segment, the timings are easier than in the previous segments. The part is also notable for being one of the most heavily decorated in a mega-collaboration level.
  • 35-43% (Spade + CreatorSruj): Spade's part starts from 35-39%, involving many fast, tight gameplay, gravity changes and orb timings. At 39%, CreatorSruj's part begins with a difficult orb timing and awkward straight-fly transitions. It then transitions to a difficult section where the player must click a series of orbs at a frame-perfect timing.
  • 43-52% (SlimJim + TEX02): SlimJim's part is a series of extremely inconsistent timings with several redundant orbs and spikes placed throughout the part. At 47%, TEX02's part begins with more timing segments and a difficult ship transition. The part ends with a slow double-spike gap.
  • 52-60% (Splash): Splash's part starts with an extremely difficult ship section, requiring precise manoeuvring. It then transitions to a UFO segment with timings comparable to Etzer's part in Bloodbath.
  • 60-69% (Nemphis): Nemphis' part starts with a rather confusing dual, but not as difficult as the rest of the level. It then transitions to a tight mini-ship sequence and a fast UFO segment, both requiring swift yet precise timings.
  • 69-76% (WHErwin): WHerwin's part starts with a difficult dual-cube segment that requires precise timings and transitions to an awkward dual-ship/UFO segment where the player must spam the UFO at the bottom while manoeuvring the ship through gravity portals. The part ends with a tight dual-wave comparable to GoodSmile's part in Audio Extraction.
  • 76-88% (BananaMuffin): BananaMuffin's part, abbreviated as 'zBM' in his part, includes difficult and tight timings and a very tight wave at the end. The player then transitions to a robot segment with more tricky timings. Finally, the part transitions to a slow, tight ship section similar to Red World Rebirth.
  • 88-100% (Eclipsed): The level ends with Eclipsed's part, containing a slow and simple cube section. The level then ends with the words 'Spacial Rend' while the list of the creator's names rolls down in the background and some artwork of the legendary Pokémon Palkia.
