The Ultimate Phase is a 1.9-2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by Andromeda. It was originally uploaded to Andromeda's account on 9 May 2015.[1] However, he confessed to hacking the level's verification and later re-beat it legitimately on 21 June 2016.[2]

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-7% (Andromeda): The Ultimate Phase begins with Andromeda's part: a simple cube section that features a few timing-based jumps and a few tricks.
  • 7-13% (UserMatt18): Next, the player enters a double-speed ship sequence that features a lot of gravity portals with yellow orbs inside them, meaning missing one means certain death. Near the end of that part, it goes to triple speed.
  • 13-17% (CreepyDash): Next, the player enters a tricky half-speed UFO segment that is reminiscent of UFO segments from Windy Landscape.
  • 17-24% (GuitarHeroStyles): Afterwards, the player enters a difficult triple-speed mini-cube dual, with one of the icons changing to a mini-ship later.
  • 24-29% (Viprin): The player enters an easier, double-speed mini-UFO segment involving two gravity portals that the player must go through in close sequence.
  • 29-36% (Giron): After going through three of those, the player then enters a gravity portal and an extremely difficult triple-speed dual-mini-cube segment, partly inspired by Supersonic. It uses mostly invisible blocks to confuse the player.
  • 36-43% (Tygrysek): The player enters an effect-style triple-speed wave dual. It changes sizes multiple times and, at the very end, loses the dual to become a single mini-wave. It then briefly returns to normal size.
  • 43-51% (WOOGI1411): The player enters a double-speed mini-ball segment, reverting to normal size, then slows down. They then enter a ship sequence that goes to a moderately tight segment, becomes a wave with many gravity portals, and then, for the final time, changes form into a mini-ship sequence.
  • 51-59% (Zobros): It starts with a mini-ball segment featuring a few obstacles, then speeds up to triple-speed and becomes a cube, which involves a few slopes with blue orbs that the player must hit, following a line of pink orbs and one yellow orb. A few more slopes follow another line of pink orbs, along with one yellow orb.
  • 59-65% (Findexi): Next, the player enters a double-speed UFO segment, with a few gravity portals and invisible spikes to confuse the player. It then transitions into a half-speed mini-cube section with a few moderately difficult jumps.
  • 65-72% (Crack): Afterwards, the player transitions into a half-speed mini-ball dual segment with two hard obstacles, then enters a mini-ship dual, which is considerably hard since it requires straight-flying.
  • 72-77% (loogiah): The player enters a double-speed mini-ship sequence which is similar to UserMatt18's part, also making use of gravity portals and yellow orbs, but considerably harder because it requires straight-flying and also contains fakes. It then slows down, before speeding up to normal speed.
  • 77-84% (MaJackO): The player enters a mini-ship sequence. It is considered one of the hardest parts because of the combination of straight-flying and difficult memorisation parts, along with the bugged slope hitboxes that make it very hard to sightread.
  • 84-88% (Cyclic): The player enters a wave segment with tight spaces and multiple speed portals. It then becomes mini and features a few obstacles.
  • 88-97% (ZenthicAlpha): A normal-speed ship sequence that mostly encompasses straight-flying.
  • 97-100% (Andromeda): Lastly, the player enters one final simple cube section involving a few double-spike jumps before the level ends.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Upon the creation of the modern Demonlist on Pointercrate on 4 January 2017, The Ultimate Phase was placed at #24, above Uprise and below ICE Carbon Diablo X.
  • GMDElite was the first player to presumably beat The Ultimate Phase legitimately on 29 July 2015. However, he beat the level without recording and only recorded the end screen.[3]
    • Sandstorm would be the first player to beat The Ultimate Phase on-recording on 7 August 2015.[4]
  • The Ultimate Phase used to be copyable, but after Update 2.1, it can no longer be copied.
  • BiPolarBearr was the first mobile victor of The Ultimate Phase after 13,305 attempts.
  • Interestingly, when Andromeda released his list of creators involved in the mega-collaboration, Etzer was among them. Somehow, Etzer never made it to the final level.
  • Andromeda released an update making The Ultimate Phase more difficult on 27 May 2020.[5]
  • The Ultimate Phase is a retrospective Top 1 and would have been the #1 hardest level from May to July 2015.
  • Andromeda claimed that it took him more than 7,000 attempts to originally 'verify' The Ultimate Phase.
    • However, on 19 August 2015, Andromeda confessed to hacking it.
  • Andromeda has completed The Ultimate Phase multiple times, the first time being illegitimate, the second time being re-beaten legitimately, and the most recent one being a buff-date with minor deco changes to the first cube.[6]
  • The Ultimate Phase is #1159 on the All Rated Extreme Demons List (AREDL).
  • The Ultimate Phase is #330 on the Low Refresh Rate Demonlist.
    • It is also #264 on the Mobile Demonlist.
  • The Ultimate Phase has two different rated Extreme Demon remakes: Another Phase and Penultimate Phase.
  • Surprisingly, there are no trigger groups, even if there is one alpha trigger in the level.
  • It is one of Technical's least favorite Extreme Demon levels followed by Infernal Abyss which thinks the latter is worse.
  • This level was in EricVanWilderman's 12 Demons of Christmas 2021 series, as Demon #12.[7]
  • Either Cadrega City or Stalemate Redux pushed The Ultimate Phase into the Legacy List of the Demonlist on 22 September 2017 due to the not-so-well-known history of the Demonlist at the time.
    • Later, in November 2017, after the Demonlist increased from 50 to 100, The Ultimate Phase went back on the Extended List.
      • The Ultimate Phase was moved from #99 to the Legacy List on 4 November 2018, almost a year later. This change pushed Grimoire Heart back into the Extended List.
        • The Ultimate Phase was returned to the Extended List once again after the Demonlist expanded from 100 to 150 in June 2019.
          • However, the placement of Superstrike on 5 July 2019 pushed The Ultimate Phase into the Legacy List for the third and final time.
