The Nightmare is a 1.2/1.7 Easy Demon level by Jax, published on 20 October 2013. It is the second level of Demon Pack 3.
Description
[edit | edit source]The Nightmare features a mix of ball, cube, and ship sequences with gravity-based challenges.
- A ball segment with gravity changes and orb/pad inputs takes place from 0% to 20%.
- A mirrored cube sequence with straightforward jumps spans 21% to 40%.
- A second ball segment with gravity portals and a reverse gravity trap occurs from 41% to 60%.
- A ship sequence with invisible pillars and gravity switches follows from 61% to 80%.
- A final cube sequence with rapid jumps and a triple-speed ship segment concludes the level from 81% to 100%.

- The Nightmare holds several popularity distinctions, including:
- The most-downloaded level in a Map Pack.
- The most-downloaded Easy Demon.
- The second-most-downloaded Demon level, behind Bloodbath.
- For several years, The Nightmare was the most-downloaded Demon level in the game. Bloodbath overtook it in March 2026.
- The third-most-downloaded level in the game, behind Bloodbath and OuterSpace.
- The fourth-most-liked level in the game, behind ReTraY, Sonar, and OuterSpace.
- The Nightmare was the most-downloaded Demon level for many years before being overtaken by Bloodbath in March 2026.
- The Nightmare is considered one of the easiest Demon levels alongside Platinum Adventure and THE LIGHTNING ROAD.
- The Nightmare was updated during Update 1.7 with enhanced decorations and gameplay changes.
- The MareNight, a clone of the Nightmare, was accidentally rated in 2021 but quickly unrated.
- The Nightmare was temporarily demoted to 8 stars alongside THE LIGHTNING ROAD (7 stars). It was reverted after serious community backlash.
