Jawbreaker
Jawbreaker is a 1.9 Hard Demon level by ZenthicAlpha. It is a remake of Nine Circles and one of the first Nine Circles levels.
Description
[edit | edit source]Jawbreaker begins with a cube sequence that requires some simple timings but is relatively easy, despite a few tricks. Next, the player enters a double-speed ship sequence, widely considered moderately difficult due to tricky gravity portals, tight spaces, straight-flying, and slopes that throw the player around. After that, the player enters a ball sequence that is also tricky, involving crucial timings, fast clicks, invisible spikes, and fake pads and orbs. Then, the cube part appears again. The following cube sequence is straightforward and only requires hitting all the orbs. Then it goes into an auto sequence at half speed with some blue pads. Then, the music drops with the infamous Nine Circles wave sequence of Jawbreaker.
Unlike the other Nine Circles remakes, Jawbreaker also features a couple of tight spaces, a high abundance of gravity and size changes, and a few speed changes. The dual sequences and the small half-speed break in the middle are the easiest of the entire wave sequence. The second half of the wave is notoriously difficult because of the ridiculous number of size changes, followed by many gravity portals that can quickly throw off the player. The level ends as a mini, anti-gravity dual-wave sequence. Unlike most Nine Circles levels, this one has no signature that says the creator's name or 'GG'. It is similar to Figures, which has no such signature or ending message either.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Jawbreaker is one of the first five Demon Nine Circles levels to be created. The others are Fairydust, The Realistic, Figures, and the original Nine Circles.
- Whether or not Jawbreaker is harder than Nine Circles is often disputed.
- ZenthicAlpha claimed this is harder than Nine Circles, but ToshDeluxe thinks it is easier. This debate splits among players.
- There is a remake of Jawbreaker called Paradox Breaker.
- Jawbreaker is EricVanWilderman's favourite Nine Circles level.
- Jawbreaker was formerly a Medium Demon.
Errors
- As shown in EricVanWilderman's video of Jawbreaker, there are multiple spots where the player can slip around gravity- and size portals that will often cause the player to crash.[1]
- The player can skip the last dual portal in the last mini-wave sequence by holding at the gravity portal prior, where they can end up as a single mini-wave.
