KOSETSU (降雪) is a 2.1/2.2 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted and published by ffwe, verified by Taiago on 25 August 2024.[1] It features a snow/ice theme that it has received praise for. The gameplay features frequent changes in game-modes and speed, seems partially inspired by Congregation and Slaughterhouse, and its music fits the winter theme. It also features drastic colour changes and various brief 'glitches'.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-19%: KOSETSU begins with the player being required to hit the orbs with complex timings precisely. At the end, the player must hit the blue orb to land. Afterwards, a short animation occurs.
  • 19-49%: The player has to do some complex timings, featuring cube, UFO, robot, and then spider, accompanied by significantly tight ship and wave sections. The screen begins to darken, creating an atmosphere of tension.
  • 49-57%: The level reaches its climax, becoming especially challenging. The player has to face tight sections with straight-fly.
  • 57-81%: The player enters a short and fairly challenging ball section, having to make a few precise cube clicks that lead up to the wave game-mode. After narrow wave passages, a ship section arrives, where the player must not click the two black orbs. Next comes a robot, then a precise, tiny-wave click, and a challenging timing cube with orbs. The player must now click three times on orbs as a ball, later entering a challenging and spam-demanding spider section. Lastly, in this section are two precise UFO clicks.
  • 81-100%: The player is turned into a wave, having to traverse through narrow spaces, followed by a short ball timing section, UFO, a tight ship, and the final section featuring cube triple spike jumps. Finally, an ending sequence with the level's title appears.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • KOSETSU was rated on 10 September 2024 and placed at #16 on the Demonlist on 29 September 2024, above poocubed and below Deimos (ItsHybrid).
    • This addition pushed Cold Sweat into the Extended List and Farthest Outpost into the Legacy List.
  • Kōsetsu (降雪) translates to 'snowfall' in Japanese.
  • KOSETSU features a 'CBF buffer' that slightly buffs the level's gameplay to compensate for the difficulty when playing with the Click Between Frames (CBF) mod.
    • However, this buffer made KOSETSU presumably closer to Top 3-difficulty on the Demonlist.[2]
  • The placement of Flamewall on 24 October 2025 pushed KOSETSU out of the Top 25 of the Demonlist.

Notable completions

  • wPopoff has spent the least amount of attempts on KOSETSU, completing it in 3,165 attempts.[3]
