Warios Gold MinE (stylised as Wario's Gold Mine in some showcases) is a 2.2 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by stanstanmansan, verified by reizor and published on 6 September 2024. Its design is based on the Mario Kart track of the same name.
Description
[edit | edit source]If a section has multiple contributors, italics denote gameplay creators, and underlines denote decorators.
- 0-9.5% (stanstanmansan + xwacate + alledia): Warios Gold MinE begins underground with the player being blasted out of a pipe cannon as a mini-cube. They must then hit several orbs with precise timing as mine carts, Warp Pipes, and other cubes appear throughout the background. The primary obstacles to avoid are the grey metallic gears; there are also several spikes on rail tracks. At 7.75%, the player transforms into a mini-ship, flying at double-speed into the overworld without touching the edges of the exit.
- 9.5-26.5% (Duque01 + Simwamwi): The player emerges outdoors in a triple-speed section resembling a desert with several brick huts and Wario pennants. As they use several more orbs to progress across several moving platforms and rock structures, the player changes game-modes several times. The player hits a quadruple-speed portal at 24.75%, entering the mine shortly after.
- 26.5-43.75% (BetaTerminator + hauxz): Once inside the mine, the player must jump between an upper and lower path, using moving minecarts to avoid spikes, flying Swoops, and stationary gold reserves. Though most of the section uses the cube game-mode with alternating sizes, the player is forced to pick up a Super Star twice, both of which transform them into a fast ball. The first Star is at 31.5%, and the second is at 38.5%.
- 43.75-61.5% (CloudMan123 + Jorgem1gue7): Entering the railway tunnels of the mine as a double-speed mini-cube, a Bob-omb drops near the player and explodes. After hitting a red orb to avoid being killed in the explosion, the player enters a section with multiple minecarts moving at a constant speed on rails. Once the player hits a black orb at 46.25%, the minecarts become solid and must be used to progress through the section; however, they must watch for stationary gold that doubles as hazards. Aside from gold, some minecarts contain orbs, portals, and Shy Guys that throw more Bob-ombs at the player. The second half of the section is played as a UFO after hitting a set of portals in a minecart at the halfway point.
- 61.5-78.5% (stanstanmansan): In the sole gameplay section of the level that only one contributor fully created, the player enters a cave with several gold ores visible within its walls. Its gameplay is heavily orb-based, but also switches between the ball, UFO, cube, and wave; the latter is the only game-mode not to appear twice in the section. This section also contains six POW Blocks scattered throughout, each capable of destroying an upcoming wall inside the cave when hit (they function as toggle orbs). However, the player must skip third and fifth POW Blocks (and no others) to avoid a cave-in that would otherwise end their attempt. Finally, the player reaches a dash orb at 77.75%, just below a sign reading 'beware the sun'. Holding the dash orb transitions the player out of the cave and the section.
- 78.5-87.5% (robtobfreak + HKaleido + BetaTerminator): The final gameplay section takes place outside during the sunset, and is the only robot sequence in the entire level. The player progresses through an industrial mining area containing large rotating gears, wooden structures, and directional signs; to survive, they must make several precise jumps while still at quadruple-speed. The Angry Sun (as foretold by the warning sign before the dash orb transition into this section) appears at 80.75%. Finally, at 86.75%, the player reverts to a normal-speed, normal-sized cube and must perform a triple-spike jump, serving as a chokepoint.
- 87.5-100% (danielsbadkarma): Clearing the triple-spike jump lands the player inside another minecart on rails. They pass several 'DO NOT ENTER' signs, warp pipes, and dark buildings as the minecart makes two jumps; the player also automatically hits two ? Blocks that release the words 'danielsbadkarma' and 'hosted by stanstanmansan'. The player hits a double-speed portal at 94.75%; at this point, their icon disappears and is replaced by a 3D model of cube 1 that uses their primary colour. The cube and minecart enter a tunnel, then emerge from the exit and charge towards the camera before falling forward off-screen. A decoration of Wario pointing down at the tunnel's exit is located above, along with the level name curved around him.
