Impossible Quiz GD is a 2.1/2.2 Harder level by Colon, published on 5 January 2019.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Overview

[edit | edit source]

Impossible Quiz GD is a Geometry Dash-themed remake of the popular Flash game, The Impossible Quiz. There are 30 questions. Questions are often multiple choice, but can include minigames, out-of-the-box thinking, and unconventional methods of responding. Unless otherwise stated, the player must use the Player 1 button to submit an answer, and Player 2 to cycle through answers.

The player begins the Quiz with three lives. Whenever a question is answered incorrectly, the screen flashes red, a cross mark appears, and the player loses a life. Exhausting all three lives or failing to finish the Quiz in 4 minutes results in a Game Over. Once the 30th question is answered correctly, the Quiz is complete; any remaining time is fast-forwarded within the level. On the end-screen, the player is given a grade based on their speed and life count (see User coins).

Glossary and legend

[edit | edit source]

This page uses terminology from The Impossible Quiz Wiki.

  • Bomb: a single-question time limit ranging from 1–20 seconds.
    • If a question contains a Bomb (referred to as a Bomb Question), its solution must be found before the time limit runs out; failure to do so results in a Game Over.
    • Bomb Questions on this page have their time limits marked in parentheses in red. For example, a 7-second bomb will be indicated with (7).
  • Safe Question: a question on which lives cannot be lost. The only way to get stuck on a Safe Question is if the level's timer is depleted.
  • Conditional Answer: an answer to a multiple-choice question that will only be accepted as correct under specific circumstances; otherwise, it will be marked as wrong.
    • Conditional Answers to multiple-choice questions will be italicized in light yellow boxes.
  • Correct Answers to multiple-choice questions will be bolded in light green boxes. If picked, the player will advance to the next question.
  • Wrong Answers to multiple-choice questions will be struck through in light pink boxes. If picked, the player will lose a life.

Questions

[edit | edit source]

Some text rewritten for the sake of clarity.

Question 1

How do you play Geometry Dash?
Painfully By grinding those Demons
Jump On Steam, of course
No significant explanation for this question exists. However, it is worth noting that the first slide in Geometry Dash's 'How to Play' section concerns jumping.

Question 2

How many demons are in GD?
> 5,000 < 10
> 2,000 Infinity
Refers to official Demon difficulties, of which there are only five (Easy Demon, Medium Demon, Hard Demon, Insane Demon, and Extreme Demon).

Question 3

How do you survive Map Packs?
Time and effort Practice Mode
Noclip You don't
Pokes fun at the gameplay of Map Pack levels.

Question 4

How many Cubes are in the Icon Kit?
148 It's a 2D game
142 One for every attempt
Refers to the fact that a cube is a 3D shape, while Geometry Dash is a 2D game and thus cannot contain cubes. Additionally, before Update 2.1, Cubes were referred to as 'Icons' in the Icon Kit. The name of the game-mode was only canonized in Nock Em.

Question 5

This question features artwork of a cracked bathtub with a red liquid flowing from the spout and into the tub. KittenFrost created the artwork.
What is this?
Bloodbath Red Dead
Rot Tub Trouble Bath
'Red Dead' is a reference to the Rockstar video game series of the same name. 'Rot Tub' and 'Trouble Bath' are puns on 'hot tub' and 'bubble bath', respectively.

Question 6

How many different orbs are in Deadlocked?
5 4
3 59
Refers to the types of jump orbs, of which Deadlocked uses only three: yellow, blue, and green orbs.

Question 7

RETRAY!
4454123 6508283
21448270 4284013
The numbers listed are all IDs of famous levels. In order, they are: Sonar, ReTraY (the correct answer), Hop, and Nine Circles.

Question 8

Who is RobTop?
The creator of GD King of the Dashlands
One sexy beast The guy sleeping over there
Pokes fun at RobTop's inactivity, particularly his inability to publish Update 2.2.

Question 9

The first Minigame and the only Safe Question of the Quiz. A version of Cube 2 is pictured on the left side of a flat structure; on the right is a triple-spike. Each input, whether with Player 1 or Player 2, moves the icon closer to the spikes. In total, the player must press 36 times to force the icon into the spikes. When this is done, the icon flies off-screen to the left and the camera shakes. The player will advance to the next question shortly after.

Question 10

Which is the correct spelling?
Ultimat Destruction Ultiate Destruction
Ultimate Desruction Ultimate Destruction
Refers to RobTop's unfinished beta level, which was spelt incorrectly in Geometry Jump's first teaser trailer.

Question 11

How many mini portals are in Fingerdash? (10)
1 3
4 6
'Mini' only refers to the downscaled gravity portal at 26.75% in Fingerdash.

Question 12

Which level is highest on the Demon list?
Silent clubstep Sonic Wave
The Nightmare Bloodlust
Does not refer to the Pointercrate Demonlist. Instead, when using the level search feature of Geometry Dash, filtering by Demon levels only will show The Nightmare as the first result. This is because it is the most-liked Demon level in the game.

Question 13

How do you use a dash orb?
Click once Type "dash"
Jitterclick Click the orb
To pass this question, the player must click and hold on any answer. This mimics the use of a dash orb, hinted at by Fingerdash's 'Hold to dash' death message.

Question 14

How many levels are in GD SubZero?
1 2
3 4
Refers to the two 'level' screens in Press Start, labelled 1-1 and 1-2.

Question 15

In this question, six red objects, serving as answer choices, are placed in two columns of three as shown below. Centred between the columns is a red arrow that the player will use to enter their answers. The Player 2 button rotates the arrow clockwise from its original north-pointing position; when the arrow's head points at one of the six red objects, that object will be tinted green. When an object is tinted green, the Player 1 button may be used to submit it as a response.

If the arrow points towards the question's text when the player submits (a reference to Question 65 of the original Impossible Quiz), the message 'nice try ;)' will appear. This action carries no penalty.

Pick the largest!
Small cartoon cloud Key hole
Medium coloured gear Coloured beveled square
Cartoon skull Flower
When all six of the aforementioned objects are placed at normal scale, the gear's area is the largest.

Question 16

Who created the music for Boomlings? (10)
ParagonX8 Boom Cat
Water Spark F-888
The four answers are spoofed names of ParagonX9, Boom Kitty, Waterflame, and F-777. The correct answer, 'Boom Cat', shares its name with an icon in Boomlings.

Question 17

Wanna Sprite Cranberry?
sure you normie
I'm a root beer guy clear
This question is a reference to a viral 2017 commercial in which an animated character, voiced by LeBron James, asks 'Want a Sprite Cranberry? (Uh-huh) The answer is clear'.[1] In the context of this question, the lyric points to the fourth option as correct.

Question 18

This question and all four of its answer choices are written using the lowercase letters of the Oxygene 1[2] typeface, making them seem cryptic at first glance.
What's ligma?
Lick my balls Oh no
Beats me Please stop
References the Ligma joke.

Question 19

This question is semi-random. While the answer choices remain the same, the Map Pack specified within the question is chosen at random.

Hopper Checkmate
flappy hexagon stage of madness
Which level is in the Paradox Pack? (10)
Hopper Checkmate
flappy hexagon stage of madness
Which level is in the Sapphire Pack? (10)

Which level is in the Morph Pack? (10)

Question 20

The second minigame of the Quiz. The player controls a smiling circle icon, tinted with their colours. The player is given the prompt 'Don't touch the spikes!' and must carefully move the circle into the checkerboard finish zone at the end of a short corridor. Player 1 moves left, and Player 2 moves right.

There are three red hazards the player must avoid:

  • invisible spikes on the left side of the corridor
  • five cascading spike pillars ascending and descending
  • a surprise attack from a sixth off-screen spike pillar, indicated by a yellow arrow within the corridor (all other arrows are white)
If the player touches a hazard, they will lose a life, and their icon will be sent back to its starting point. Once the finish area is reached, the player automatically advances to the next question.

Question 21

What should you use to beat a demon?
A mouse A controller
A phone A crowbar
Does not refer to Demon levels, but rather demonic creatures. The crowbar is the most suitable combat weapon.

Question 22

How many mini coins are in Fingerdash? (10)
11 10
13 3
The 11th mini coin is the one within the counter display that cannot be collected.

Question 23

Why does GD always fall over?
The fanbase is all toddlers It only has two TOEs
It can't stand the Hexagon Force Why does your face always look dumb?
A dad joke using the abbreviated form of Theory of Everything and its sequel. As there are two levels with the moniker 'Theory of Everything', the game has only two TOEs, or toes.

Question 24

The third and final minigame of the Quiz, and a remake of the infamous Question 59 from the original Impossible Quiz. The player is given the prompt 'Charge ur lazer!' and a 10-second bomb. To pass, they must click 100 times before the bomb explodes, charging up a monster's laser attack to vapourize the bomb and send it flying off-screen.

Question 25

How many orbs does Polargeist have?
100 54
28 21
Refers to the total number of Mana Orbs, of which Polargeist awards 100.

Question 26

You're gonna want a second to think before answering! (10)
42 Not with 500 IQ!
I got it! 1 second later...
As with Question 13, all answers are incorrect by default when clicked. To pass this question, the player needs to wait until the bomb's timer reaches 1. They may then submit any of the four answers to advance.

Question 27

This question is preceded by a 3-second countdown, after which one of the three options of rock-paper-scissors will be chosen at random as the question's text. The player must choose the winning move and quickly submit it before the bomb explodes.
Rock! (...2)
Rock Paper
Scissors Nothing!
Paper! (...2)
Rock Paper
Scissors Nothing!
Scissors! (...2)
Rock Paper
Scissors Nothing!

Question 28

What's the first level of GD?
Polargeist Ultimate Destruction
Stereo Madness Level Easy
Tests whether or not the player is currently overthinking questions.

Question 29

How many questions does this Quiz have?
30 50
Not enough Half of these aren't questions
According to Colon, there is 'no real reason' behind the answer other than 'the fact that it's kinda true'.

The final question of the Quiz requires the player to input a numerical answer to one of ten randomly chosen questions. After the selected question appears, they have 20 seconds to enter a number. The Player 1 button decrements the player's answer by one, and the Player 2 button increments it by one. The number starts at zero (which also serves as its floor) and is only submitted when the timer expires. If the player's answer is correct, the Quiz ends; if it is wrong, a Game Over is triggered regardless of how many lives have been used.

The chosen question and correct answer come from the following list, arranged in order by editor groups:

  • How many form (game-mode) changes are in xStep? - 7
  • What level number has the first -1 (Slow) speed portal? - 16 (Hexagon Force)
  • How many different backgrounds are used in the first 20 [official] levels? - 6
  • Which Geometry Dash World level number introduces the Mirror portal? - 7 (Striker)
  • How many Demons must you beat to unlock a Ball? - 20 ('Unstoppable!' unlocks the first Ball)
  • How many saved levels appear on one page by default? - 10
  • How many Demon Packs are there? - 17
  • How many stars does The Challenge reward? - 3
  • How many level fonts were in Update 2.0? - 12
  • What level number is Electrodynamix? - 15

User coins

[edit | edit source]

Impossible Quiz GD contains three user coins. They are awarded based on the player's final grade upon completion.

  • The first aspect of a player's grade is the letter rank. They receive an A-rank if no lives are lost, a B-rank if one life is lost, and a C-rank if two lives are lost—an A-rank rewards two coins, a B-rank rewards one, and a C-rank rewards none.
  • The second aspect of a player's grade is their speed. If a player finishes the Quiz in under 90 seconds, their grade is promoted. An A-rank is promoted to an S, while a B-rank and a C-rank receive plus symbols in front of their grade. A promotion, regardless of letter rank, rewards the third coin.
    • The stopwatch tracking the player's time stops when the Bomb for Question 30 expires. It does not include the brief period when the player's answer is being verified.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Impossible Quiz GD prevents the player from using Practice Mode. The anti-cheat screen resembles the Tab Cheat message in The Impossible Quiz series.
  • Before 1 March 2026, the first choice in Question 12 was 'Bloodbath', not 'Silent clubstep'. The change was made the day that Bloodbath became the most-downloaded level in Geometry Dash.
  • Marching Anthem, the music track used in Impossible Quiz GD, is the same one used for The Impossible Quiz Book Chapter 1.
  • Impossible Quiz GD was the first of two levels in which Colon referenced the Shoop da Whoop meme. The second was SUPER GD GEM HUNT 64.[3]
