Ocean Rush is a 2.1 unrated Medium Demon mega-collaboration hosted by Serponge, Disp, and Rawin and published by Serponge. It was verified by Viprin on May 5, 2021, and released on May 7, 2021. It is the sequel to City Rush, with an underwater city theme rather than an above-ground one. The level follows the player through a variety of underwater-themed locations, such as coral reefs, a sunken train station, as well as dark- and glowy caves.

Rawin created an animation for the level, which shows the connection between City Rush and Ocean Rush. The animation takes place after the events of City Rush, with the main character escaping the train. After reading a note that says lumpy took their map, the city collapses, and the main character falls into the ocean below. They are greeted by a few fish, who punch the main character, transitioning to the level.

Gameplay

Template:Stub/Section

  • 0-6% (overdefo):
  • 7-13% (Thomartin):
  • 14-18% (Subwoofer):
  • 19-25% (Presta + overdefo): After falling from Subwoofer's part, the player arrives at Presta and overdefo's part, a mini cube section where they must jump on top of sloped platforms. The part is a colorful and abstract take on the bottom of the ocean floor, filled with structures made up of squares of blue and green hues. The part ends with several yellow orbs that the player must hit early to avoid missing one.
  • 26-32% (flash):
  • 33-40% (Rawin):
  • 41-46% (Nemphis + flash + Rawin):
  • 47-53% (Darwin): As the player falls down from the previous part, they enter a colorful underwater cave created by Darwin. The part begins with a short robot section where the player must jump on top of some pillars and hit a dash orb. They then enter an asymmetrical ball dual section that is generally easy except for a timing where the player must carefully go between some spikes and hold down on a dash orb. After going into a cube section, the player then falls to the ocean floor and must jump over some glowing spikes. The gameplay slows down to normal speed as Darwin's part ends.
  • 54-60% (Disp + TheDevon + lumpy + koolboom): This part, mainly created by Disp with some other details made by the other three creators, resembles a darker ocean area with a dark, moving seaweed effect covering the bottom of the screen. The player, staying as a cube from the end of Darwin's part, must carefully platform their way through by hitting jump orbs. The part has a bubble gimmick that will automatically carry the player through some gaps in the gameplay, with the player able to jump once before the bubble breaks.
  • 61-67% (Jenkins): After making an input when Disp's part ends, the player will be launched into a long robot section. They must carefully jump on top of the floating structures and hit jump orbs carefully, as many of them cause them to crash if hit. At the end of Jenkins' part, the player goes into a cube portal and must quickly hit several yellow orbs.
  • 68-75% (Ferdefunky): Ferdefunky's part takes place in a bright underwater city with a red and purple structure design and glowing green blocks. The part begins with a simple cube section before a short mini ball section. After a simple mini cube section where the player can use the arrows to guide them, there is a short wave section where they must slide on the ceiling. Upon entering another cube section and hitting a couple jump orbs, the player falls downward.
  • 76-85% (DavJT + Serponge): After leaving Ferdefunky's part, the player will fall into the interior of what appears to be a large underwater tunnel with fish and crabs around the edges. The player will enter a long ship section where they must avoid spiked coral obstacles and hit trigger orbs to deactivate lasers that will cause the player to crash if they fly into it. At the end of DavJT and Serponge's part, the player must hit a red orb and then several green orbs in sync with the song, and finally, hold down on a dash orb.
  • 86-100% (Arb + Grax, End-Screen): As the player holds down on the dash orb, they will emerge into a large open area (still inside the tunnel) where they will stay for a short time before the end-screen begins. An animation appears of the level's logo with spinning names of the creators with a city in the background. The screen then goes black, and an animation of colored pixels slowly moving to form the logo of SpegCorp (the name given to the team behind the Rush series) will play. The level then ends.

Trivia

  • The level is free to copy.
  • The level contains 197,297 objects.
  • The level is 2m 34s in length.
  • flash's part contains some secrets.
    • By hitting the first cube portal around the top, the player can fall into the train below. Here, they can hit an invisible blue orb and make a series of tight timings to jump over the yellow portal that normally went through after the black orb. Some text will appear, saying "crouton.net". Putting the text into a URL sends the player to a website containing nothing but a small image of a crouton, a type of fried bread.
    • A QR code appears briefly when taking the coin route. The code leads to a video of the results from a "fishe contest" hosted by Rawin, where people in the Ocean Rush server shared photos of fish.
  • The player originally could access a secret way by flying over the cube portal at the end of Nemphis' part, allowing them to fly over the rest of the level. This was patched out in a level update.
  • Ferdefunky's part is the only part in the level that contains wave gameplay.
  • DavJT used an image of his part for an April Fools' Day bait video, claiming that it was of Serponge's part in "CraZy IV".
  • The first trigger orb in DavJT and Serponge's part appears to be required to hit to deactivate the first laser. However, the player can just skip hitting the trigger orb as the first laser has no hitbox. This is most likely unintentional.
