Sdslayer

Template:Infobox Player Sdslayer (TheRealSdslayer in-game, or Sdslayer100 on some sites) is an American player, YouTuber and level creator in the Geometry Dash community with over 112,000 subscribers on YouTube. He is associated generally with the level Fingerdash, which he has uploaded many videos about in the past. He usually uploads videos where he does challenges or builds layouts with some type of twist or restriction, but also uploads occasional video essay-type videos that follow a more scripted structure. He occasionally beats Extreme Demons, having completed five as of July 2023. His hardest completed level is either The Flawless or Broken Signal.

History

Sdslayer's channel was created on July 23, 2010, but was left with no videos on it for years, until July 2014 when he uploaded his oldest-known video, which was a 1 hour loop of Back on Track by DJVI. In 2015 his channel seemed mostly focused on other 1 hour song loops and various level showcases by him or other creators (like Endgame by CreatorJR).

His videos stayed mostly the same way, following a similar trend for the next couple years, until 2017. His first video to break 10,000 views that was not a 1 hour song loop was a showcase of every level in Geometry Dash World, followed by a tutorial on how to play the leaked version of Fingerdash found in the game's files. He would then upload the leaked song remix and a showcase of the entire unreleased level. Fingerdash from this point on would be a recurring theme on his channel for quite some time.

His earliest public subscriber milestone video was at the 5,000 mark when he uploaded a video of him smashing an old phone on March 5, 2017.

His content from this point on followed in the theme of level showcases from his GDPS, 1 Hour versions of songs, and "___ but ___" videos, which follow the style of showcasing a Geometry Dash level, with a twist that occurs every time a certain level element appears. His most popular video follows this format, starting with the level Fingerdash, but swapping to a different level whenever the player hits a pad. This loops for all levels until they all finish. This same concept was remastered by him after he returned to YouTube in 2022.

In late 2017, his content noticeably shifted to a more comedy-sketch and scripted based style, with videos such as "Geometry Dash's Creation in a Nutshell" and "Controversial Topics Portrayed by Geometry Dash." He also began delving into the style of "GD animations," which were being popularized by other YouTubers at the time such as Juniper, Jaden, and Colon.

Upon the release of Geometry Dash SubZero, he focused many of his videos on the levels in the game, using them as the subjects for his videos. This likely helped to boost him to 10,000 subscribers in January 2018. Around this time he also began a series called "Sdslayer Plays GD" which is where he focuses on a certain level theme or style, and plays through some levels that fall into that genre, similar to some of his modern videos today.

In December 2018, he ran an event on his channel called "The 12 Days of Fingerdash" where he would upload a video every day for 12 days starting on Christmas Day, with Fingerdash being the subject or gimmick in some way. Strangely, the 7th video in this series is not public on his channel anymore and it's not known what the video was.

He reached 25,000 subscribers in January 2019, celebrating with a small ARG on his channel. He continued his regular content through early 2019, uploading some of his more popular videos of all-time, like "Spongebob Characters Saying Official GD Level Names."

In June 2019, he hosted another event on his channel called “70 Layouts in 7 Days,” inspired by DanZmeN’s “10 Levels in 1 Week” challenge. In DanZmeN’s case, he attempted to build 10 fully decorated levels in only a week. In Sdslayer’s case, he attempted to build 70 full-length layouts, 1 minute or longer, in only a week, since he can’t decorate very well. The event ran from June 9th to June 15th.

On that day, which was also Sdslayer’s 16th birthday, he uploaded one of his most popular videos to date, “ULTIMATE SYNC LAYOUT! (Verified With Eyes Closed)” as part of his “GD Challenges” series, where the goal was to make a level with so much click-sync that the level could be completed without even looking at the game, using only the audio as a guide. The video performed incredibly well, boosting his channel and netting him upwards of 500 subscribers per day for a couple days after.

After this, he continued making videos in the series, but also explored some other styles of content. He made a video getting a discord server to sing Revenge, a popular meme at the time, as well as a video showcasing a group chat he was part of which claimed the world record for the longest Discord voice call.

He reached 50,000 subscribers on December 9, 2019, and released his 50K sub special a little under two weeks later, which was a Geometry Dash related song parody of the song “lalala” by bbno$ and y2k, named “Mana-na,” detailing the rise of a stargrinder chasing stars, orbs, and coins to ascend the leaderboards.

In 2020, he ran a gimmick account on Twitter, called “@fingerdash2020” which tweeted out the entire level of Fingerdash, one frame at a time over the course of the entire year. While this was running, he continued making regular scripted and challenge videos for a while. However, the rate of videos began to slow in early/mid-2020. He uploaded a parody of his sync layout video on June 16, 2020, followed by a compilation of unfinished layouts a month later, before a long period of inactivity followed.

On January 1, 2021, he posted the final video from the @fingerdash2020 Twitter account, before following more inactivity. Throughout 2021, he uploaded some videos on the game ‘Friday Night Funkin,’ although they are all unlisted now and in a playlist on his channel. This trend continued, with minor Geometry Dash videos, memes, and showcases interspersed through.

During this time period, he completed his first Extreme Demon, Allegiance, in February 2022.

He began to tread back into the waters of Geometry Dash content in late 2022, uploading “Fingerdash LOWEST OBJECT COUNT!” in mid-August. He made an official return on August 28, 2022, with his video “Fingedash but every orb swaps levels until they ALL finish [2022 REVAMPED],” which improves on the video with the same concept from years earlier by including every Geometry Dash level containing orbs, except for the GD World levels. This video took off after a few days of inactivity, boosting his channel performance, making way for newer videos with more substance and personality.

He followed up with an analysis of the second 2.2 sneak peek for Explorers in September, a video where he tried to modernize the coins in RobTop levels in October, and a video where he determined how long it would take to get every achievement in the game in November.

In late December, he uploaded a video going through every hack in Mega Hack, determining how likely they were to be banned from Demonlist completions. After this, he began uploading much more frequently, around 1-2 times per week, instead of 1-2 times per month. Since then he has uploaded many videos, keeping to this schedule for the most part.

Some of his more notable videos in this timeframe include a collaboration with Tride building a level that was hidden in GD’s code, a video where his mom played the game, a video featuring ideas for Update 2.3, a coin placing competition featuring Vortrox, Moldy, Tride, and Wulzy as contestants, and Colon as the judge, and many others.

He reached 100,000 subscribers on June 11, 2023, rounding out a 4-day train of the same achievement, with Vortrox reaching the same milestone on June 8, SikKy on June 9, and Doggie on June 10. As part of the celebration for this milestone, he opened up a new Discord server called “The Fingerdashlands REBORN” as a nod to a previous server he owned of the same name. He was verified on YouTube a couple of days later.

He has also featured in a couple of videos on Tride and Moldy’s channels.
