{{Stub}} ---- '''Custom Levels''' are unofficial levels created by [[Geometry Dash]] players via the [[Level Editor]]. Players have the ability to like or dislike other players' levels, rate them in difficulty (Auto, Easy, Normal, Hard, Harder, Insane, Demon) or stars (from one to ten, depending on the difficulty of the level), and comment on them. Levels can be found in multiple different ways, for example by searching for a specific level, or looking through [[Map Packs]] or the featured list. == Search Levels == [[File:CustomLevels.png|thumb|The search screen]] If you want to find a specific type of level, then it is recommended that the player goes to the search screen. By using very specific search options and filters, finding the type of level you want to play is a breeze. There are many different search options and features, such as: * '''Difficulty rating:''' Do you want to play the hardest demons or just have a nice and easy journey? * '''Level length: '''Levels can have a length of tiny, short, medium, long, and extra-long. (However, the extra long level length is not on the search screen.) * '''Star value: '''Is the star reward important, or do you just like to play for fun? * '''Quick search options: '''Do you want to follow the trending levels, the most downloaded levels or the most liked ones? Or do you just want to play some of the levels that have r[[File:Featured_levels.jpg|thumb|220px]][[File:Image.jpg|thumb|220px]]ecently come out? * '''Extra filters: '''If you tap on the "plus" below the "x" in the top right hand corner, it will bring up a few more search filters, such as what song is in the level and whether or not it has a star value. * '''Featured levels''': featured levels are levels featured for the game most difficulties are harder to demon sometimes easy to demon. When you get to the featured levels screen you get to see lots of featured levels made by other people. These levels have to, just like demon levels, get verified by [[Robert Topala]] himself. In order to get a featured level, the level must be of high quality and/or have cool effects and decorations. == Custom level pages ==

'''User Levels''' are [[Geometry Dash]] levels created by a player using the [[Level Editor|editor]]. Players can like or dislike other users' levels, suggest a star difficulty, compare scores with other players on each level's leaderboard, and comment on them (if the player has a registered account). The game also includes a copying feature that lets players save a copy of an online level and edit it in the level editor. Before [[Update 2.2|Update 2.201]], players could block levels from being copied and secure them with passwords; these restrictions were not removed from levels already uploaded with them.

[[Robert Topala|RobTop]] can rate levels based on their difficulty and quality. There are five rating types: Rate, Feature, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Feature-rated levels have a yellow glow around the level's difficulty icon; Epic-rated levels have a yellow flame outside the level's difficulty icon; Legendary-rated levels have a purple flame around the level's difficulty icon; and Mythic-rated levels have a blue flame around the level's difficulty icon, along with particles. If [[Collectibles|user coins]] are added, collecting them will not add to the player's user coin count unless the developer verifies them; unverified user coins appear bronze, while verified user coins appear silver. Rated classic levels award stars upon completion, while rated platformer levels award Moons; both also award mana orbs. Mana orbs are also awarded for progression in classic levels. Additionally, Diamonds are available if the level is part of a [[Gauntlets|Gauntlet]] or is the current [[Daily Level]], [[Weekly Demon]], or [[Event Level]]. The number of diamonds available in a level is always two greater than its star or moon rating, except for Auto levels, which do not award diamonds.

==Finding levels==
[[File:UserLevelSearch.png|right|270px|Search screen]]
User-level searching is accessed by clicking the rightmost button on the main menu screen, then clicking the bottom-right button with a magnifying glass icon labelled 'Search' in the ''Create'' menu. By default, level searches sort by most liked, but can be filtered using Various search filters accessible on this screen; these include:
*'''Difficulty rating:''' A user can choose from all of the available difficulties. They range from ''Easy'' to ''Demon'' and include ''Auto'' and ''NA''. The player can select multiple difficulties at once. However, the ''NA'', ''Demon'', and ''Auto'' difficulties cannot be paired with each other.
**Alongside the Demon difficulties added in [[Update 2.1]], users can also directly search for them. They can do so by clicking the ''Demon'' difficulty and the plus sign (+) that appears afterwards. The available difficulties are:

*'''Level length:''' Shows only levels of the specified length. Levels can have a length of Tiny (less than 10 seconds), Short (10 ~ 29 seconds), Medium (30 ~ 59 seconds), Long (60 ~ 119 seconds), XL (greater than 120 seconds), or Plat. (any platformer mode level.)
*'''Star rating:''' Shows only levels that have been awarded star ratings.
*'''Quick search options:''' These options can be used to search for levels quickly. They range from ''Most Downloaded'' levels to ''Friends'' levels.
**'''Most Downloaded:''' Displays the levels with the most downloads in descending order.
**'''Most Liked:''' Displays the levels with the most likes in descending order.
**'''Trending:''' Displays the most recent levels with a high download rate.
**'''Recent:''' Displays the most recent levels in descending order.
**'''Sent:''' Displays levels that have most recently been sent directly to RobTop by [[Moderators|moderators]] in descending order.
**'''Magic:''' This tab shows the most recent 'good' levels based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) object count, LDM usage, level length, and time spent in the editor. The exact mechanism for this is unknown. Rated levels do not appear here.
**'''Awarded:''' Displays the most recently star-rated levels in descending order.
**'''Following:''' Displays the most recently uploaded levels from creators the player is following in descending order.
**'''Friends:''' Displays the most recently uploaded levels from the player's friend list in descending order.
*'''Extra filters: '''The plus button below the 'X' button contains extra filters:
**'''Uncompleted:''' Filters levels that are uncompleted by the player. There is also a setting to display levels completed before Update 2.1, since the player would not have obtained Mana Orbs from these levels.
**'''Completed:''' Filters levels that the player has completed.
**'''Featured:''' Filters levels that are Featured.
**'''Original:''' Filters levels that are not copies of other levels.
***This filter excludes levels that are uploaded as copies of themselves, which can happen when copying an uploaded level from the same creator and reuploading it with the same name. That way, the level's ID is preserved; however, the copied level's ID is not reset. Also, the original ID will sit next to the copy of the level's ID.
**'''Epic:''' Filters levels that have an Epic rating.
**'''Legendary:''' Filters levels that have a Legendary rating.
**'''Mythic:''' Filters levels that have a Mythic rating.
**'''Song:''' Filters levels based on the selected song. After selecting this filter, controls appear at the bottom of the dialogue to select the desired song to filter.
**'''No Star:''' Filters levels that are not star-rated.
**'''Coins:''' Filters levels that have verified coins.
**'''2-Player:''' Filters levels that have 2-player mode enabled.
*'''Saved levels:''' The player can go to this button in the ''Create'' menu to view a list of all the online levels that a user has played in Geometry Dash, sorted so that the custom levels that the player has most recently played show up first in the list. By default, only 20 levels are available and allowed to play without reloading. As of Update 2.1, up to 100 levels can be available.
*'''<nowiki>'X'</nowiki> button:''' Resets all currently applied filters.

==Uploading a level==
After a custom level is verified, follow these steps to upload it.
*A level cannot be uploaded if it contains a non-disabled start position (abbreviated as Start Pos).
**Before [[Update 2.1|Update 2.11]], an exploit allowed levels with ''High Detail'' mode to be verified legitimately in Low Detail Mode and therefore be released. Moreover, the Low Detail Mode button is only available in the editor, so the level cannot be played within it.
*The custom level must have a name (it cannot be changed once it has been submitted).
**A description of the level can be left blank, as it will automatically default to '(No description provided)'. It can also be changed, unlike the title.
**If the title is left blank, then it will be automatically named ''<nowiki>'Unnamed 0'</nowiki>''. If the creator already has a level named Unnamed 0, it will be automatically named ''<nowiki>'Unnamed 1'</nowiki>'', and so on.
*The creator can request the rating (and thus star value).
**However, they cannot request a sub-difficulty for Demon levels.
*Before Update 2.201, the creator could turn on or off the copy availability of the level and could implement a password lock.
**Levels last updated before [[Update 1.7]] are never copyable, and levels updated after Update 2.201 are always copyable without a password.
**The creator can also make a level unlisted, so it will only be accessible by searching its ID.
**The creator can copy their own level even if it is not copyable.
*Based on user ratings and suggested star/difficulty ratings from level moderators, the level may receive a star rating (1 creator point), a feature rating (2 creator points), an Epic rating (3 creator points), a Legendary rating (4 creator points) or a Mythic rating (5 creator points).
**A level requires three submitted user ratings to receive a difficulty rating.
*A custom level must be at least 10 seconds long, or it may be deleted. However, plenty of sub-10-second levels still exist.
*A custom level must also have at least 2,000 objects, or it too may be deleted. However, plenty of sub-2,000-object levels remain.
*A Geometry Dash account is required to upload levels since Update 2.11 to the server to prevent abuse.

==Trivia==
===Level popularity===
*The most downloaded level is [[Bloodbath]], a heavily influential level, being the hardest-rated level for some time during [[Update 1.9]] and [[Update 2.0]]. It has over 160 million downloads and 5.4 million likes as of 14 May 2026, and is also the most-liked Extreme Demon level and the most-liked level not featured in either a [[Map Packs|Map Pack]] or Gauntlet.
*The most liked level is [[ReTraY]], an Easy level featured in the Alpha Pack. It has over 8.9 million likes as of 14 May 2026.
**The most disliked level is [[Geass]], an Auto level with 169K+ dislikes as of 22 June 2026. This is because the level has gameplay despite being rated Auto.
*The most downloaded platformer level is [[The Towerverse]], a Hard Demon level. It has more than 11.8 million downloads as of 17 July 2026.
*The most liked platformer level is [[Coin temple]], a Hard level. It has over 569 thousand likes as of 14 May 2026.

*The most liked and downloaded Auto level is [[auto play area]], with over 58.7 million downloads and 3.2 million likes as of 14 May 2026.
*The first level to receive a Legendary rating is [[Coaster Mountain]], a Medium Demon platformer level.
**The first classic level to receive a Legendary rating is ''And Ever'', an Easy Demon level.
**The first non-Demon level to receive a Legendary rating is ''Subwoofer Lullaby'', a Harder level.
**The first Extreme Demon level to receive a Legendary rating is ''Stratus''.
**The first level to have its rating downgraded from Mythic to Legendary is ''Tears of Denial''.
*The first level to receive a Mythic rating is The Towerverse, a Hard Demon platformer level that also holds the title of most-liked Demon platformer level.

**The first non-Demon level to receive a Mythic rating is [[Rage Quit]], an Easy level.
**The first Extreme Demon level to receive a Mythic rating is ''Throat of the World'', which is also the most downloaded and liked platformer Extreme Demon.
***The first classic Extreme Demon level to receive a Mythic rating is [[ORBIT]].
*Many rated levels that were uploaded before adding coins in a later update of the level have unverified user coins.

===Level IDs===
*As of 5 October 2026, the level ID 150000000 has been surpassed, meaning there have been more than 150 million levels uploaded to the server.
**Most of these levels have been deleted for various reasons, including user requests, moderator requests, or automatic server deletion.
*The first ever level confirmed to exist is ''Level 1'' by Zhenmuron (RobTop), with an ID of 91. This level was only on the game's beta server, and was deleted before the game's release.
**[[Ultimate Destruction]] (misspelled ''Ultiate Destruction'') by RobTop potentially had a lower ID. In the [[Geometry Dash]] teaser trailer, the level page appears with the number 3 at the bottom, which may be the level's ID. However, it has not been confirmed.
*The first-ever non-beta level is ''Jump Frenzy'' by Zhen (RobTop) with an ID of 120. It was deleted a long time ago.
*The levels with IDs 121-127 are completely unknown and were possibly test levels that were deleted before the game's release.
*The oldest level still available on the servers and the oldest known level to be created by someone other than RobTop is ''1st level'' by real storm with an ID of 128. It is not star-rated and has a Hard difficulty rating.
*The third custom level was ''Easy peasy'' by Himmat, with an ID of 129. This level was deleted a long time ago, and its contents are unknown.
*RobTop uploaded the fourth custom level, ''Spike Spike'', with an ID of 130. However, this level was removed towards the end of Update 2.0 during a hacker attack.
*The oldest star-rated level is ''chill out'' by [[Darnoc|TheRealDarnoc]], with an ID of 146.
*The oldest platformer level is ''second'' by SomeRandmGuy8, with an ID of 97454486. It is currently unlisted.

===User level ratings===
*A rated level can have its rating removed for various reasons. As of 24 August 2026, this has happened to 704 known levels.
**Common reasons for a level losing its rating include: being verified illegitimately (such as using hacks or a secret way), being entirely copied from another level, being updated into something unrateworthy (such as being made into an empty level or immensely buffing the difficulty), and containing imagery and text that is offensive or inappropriate.
**There are also many instances of levels that were later rated again after having their rating removed.
**Only two known levels, ''Bounce'' by Toomis and ''Urban Street'' by Moonnix, were rated, lost their rating, were rated again, and lost their rating again.
*RobTop can change a level's difficulty or feature status after being rated.
*At the beginning of Update 2.1, even though the Demon rating categories were available to select, all of the Demon levels were automatically rated Hard Demon at first.
**It was because the levels did not have enough votes to change their ratings.
*In Geometry Dash World, before the featured tab was changed, every level after #141 (WaterFall) was an NA-rated level spammed by RobTop, most being both uncommentable and unplayable. However, a couple were still playable, with a couple hundred downloads each.
*The XL length was originally named 'Extra-Long'. Update 2.0 introduced this renaming, along with a previously missing filter for searching XL levels.
*The difficulty rating icons are based on the Newgrounds emoticons.
*There have been several cases of levels' star counts not matching their difficulty faces. Currently, this is true for two levels, ''Luster'' by eopc, rated Easy 9[[File:StarA.png|x15px]], and ''Smetana'' by R4nz0r, rated Normal 9[[File:StarA.png|x15px]]. These mismatches both occurred as a side effect of being downgraded from Demon to Insane.
**In the older updates of the game, star counts below 10[[File:StarA.png|x15px]] were not locked to specific difficulty faces, and the difficulty faces could still be changed by player votes despite the levels being rated.
**The level ''Twinkle'' by Hiroquet was originally rated Demon 38[[File:StarA.png|x15px]], before its star count was lowered to 10. This happened because RobTop mixed up the level's star count with its feature score.
**In May 2014, there were briefly nine levels rated Demon 127[[File:StarA.png|x15px]]. These levels were ''korv'' by HMANN, and ''korv2'', ''wksld2'', ''eoifiojewfiojweijofe'', ''ewiofkopwefkopwekopf'', ''really hard'', ''ROBTOP FIX YOUR PHP'', ''robtop fix server'', and ''eoijfioejwfiojewiofi'' by Player. A hacker accessed the game's .php files and could rate any level with any star count. The nine levels were quickly deleted, and the exploit was patched.
**In August 2016, ''ReTry'' by Preztiyu, a Hard 4[[File:StarA.png|x15px]] level, briefly displayed as Demon 4[[File:StarA.png|x15px]] due to a hacker attack on the level.
*There were previously 15 levels that had feature rings but did not give stars. One of these levels, ''The First'' by Clatchet, was deleted sometime in 2020. The other 14 had their feature rings removed in December 2025.
*Usually, having verified coins is a perk only rated levels get, but there is one level named ''Dark Angel'' by the user Rono, which has verified coins but is not rated. It is unknown how this occurred.
**There was previously another level with this quirk, ''Hype Blaster'' by iIFrostIi. This level was rated, unrated due to a bug, and then rated again some time later. While it was unrated, it still had verified coins.
*There is one rated level, ''Small space'' by thearmyants, that gives stars despite being a platformer level. While it appears to grant moons upon completion, reloading the save data converts them to stars.
*When a player opened the comment section of a level, before Update 2.0, there was a button next to the creator's username labelled 'More'. Clicking this button lets the player view a list of the creator's levels. RobTop removed this feature in Update 2.0 because it encouraged players to create registered user accounts.

===User level names===
*RobTop can change the names of uploaded levels. This is usually done to remove inappropriate or offensive words from level names that would otherwise be rate-worthy.
*When inputting a name for a user level on mobile, some vulgar swears (with some exclusions) used to be replaced with a hyphen.
**Since the hyphen character cannot be typed into the search bar, user levels such as [[-sirius-]] that have a hyphen in their name cannot be searched by name and instead need to be searched through other means. This is why, in current versions of the game, swear words are entirely removed instead of being replaced.
**All rated levels that included hyphens in their name had them removed when Update 2.0 was released. However, players could still type hyphens in their level names for some time. This is why every currently rated level with hyphens is from Update 2.0.
*There are three rated levels with un-typeable characters other than hyphens: ''1. Beggining of time'' and ''2. PolarDream'' by XDream, which contain full stops, and ''GeoMerry Xmas'' by TiTi26, which contains an unrenderable character.

===Bugs===
*Sometimes, when uploading a level, the message would say, 'Upload failed. Please try again later.', even with an internet connection. The reason is unknown, and the only way to bypass it is to make a copy of the level.
*There is a bug that sometimes occurs where viewing a level would show that the level requires a password, but it lets the player copy it for free.
*The filters for searching for levels with a Legendary or Mythic rating were bugged, and sent the server the wrong filter (asks for Mythics with the Legendary filter and vice versa). It was later actually fixed server-side so that the filters provide the intended levels (the server provides Legendary levels when asked for Mythics, and vice versa).
*Rated Auto levels will appear when searching for rated Easy levels.
*Newly-rated Demon levels will appear when searching for rated Hard levels. They get removed from the Hard filter once they have enough votes to get their specific Demon difficulty.
*The levels Grief by Moffe and GREIF by wdlucas were made unsearchable by name following the verification of [[GRIEF]] by [[Doggie]] on 5 October 2026, as any attempt to search 'grief' or 'greif' will instead redirect to GRIEF by [[icedcave]].

===Other===
*Unrated levels will never have an Auto or Demon difficulty face.
*Mana orbs are a currency that is gained not just for completing a level but for making progress. The player gets 80% of mana orbs for making progress and 20% for completing a level. Multiply the percentage by 80% of the orbs, then round to the nearest whole number.
**For example, getting 54% in a Demon (500 orbs) means that 400 orbs are earned through progress. 54% of 400 orbs is 216.
**A bug causes the game to give one less orb if the player achieves 53% or 59% on a level. It is due to the inaccurate way that computers process decimal numbers.
*Many levels are unplayable due to the level's levelString being deleted by RobTop. A notable example is ''destiny of death'' by StarBombKR, which was previously rated Demon but lost its rating due to a secret way.
*Five rated levels do not appear when searching with the star filter: ''Magnetar'', ''New N3on'', and ''Sky'' by SWEETBONANZA, ''Everlasting'' by Joath156, and ''Enchanted'' by JeruShimu.
*Ten unrated levels appear when searching with the star filter: ''Bloodbath noclip'', ''Devil Vortex noclip'', ''black blizzard nocli'', ''AA noclip'', ''cataclysm noclip'', ''Death Corridor nocli'', ''Killbot noclip'', and ''Buff This noclip'' by CoolManGame2, ''Critical Zone'' by SWEETBONANZA, and ''Smash'' by LucaGD12. CoolManGame2's levels appear on the filter due to a hacker attack, while the other two levels were previously rated but had their rating removed; they still appear on the filter for unknown reasons.

User Levels are Geometry Dash levels created by a player using the editor. Players can like or dislike other users' levels, suggest a star difficulty, compare scores with other players on each level's leaderboard, and comment on them (if the player has a registered account). The game also includes a copying feature that lets players save a copy of an online level and edit it in the level editor. Before Update 2.201, players could block levels from being copied and secure them with passwords; these restrictions were not removed from levels already uploaded with them.

RobTop can rate levels based on their difficulty and quality. If user coins are added, collecting them will not add to the player's user coin count unless the developer verifies them; unverified user coins appear bronze, while verified user coins appear silver. Rated classic levels award stars upon completion, while rated platformer levels award Moons; both also award mana orbs. Mana orbs are also awarded for progression in classic levels. Additionally, Diamonds are available if the level is part of a Gauntlet or is the current Daily Level, Weekly Demon, or Event Level. The number of diamonds available in a level is always two greater than its star or moon rating, except for Auto levels, which do not award diamonds.

  • Saved levels: The player can go to this button in the Create menu to view a list of all the online levels that a user has played in Geometry Dash, sorted so that the custom levels that the player has most recently played show up first in the list. By default, only 20 levels are available and allowed to play without reloading. As of Update 2.1, up to 100 levels can be available.
  • 'X' button: Resets all currently applied filters.

Uploading a level

[edit | edit source]

After a custom level is verified, follow these steps to upload it.

  • A level cannot be uploaded if it contains a non-disabled start position (abbreviated as Start Pos).
    • Before Update 2.11, an exploit allowed levels with High Detail mode to be verified legitimately in Low Detail Mode and therefore be released. Moreover, the Low Detail Mode button is only available in the editor, so the level cannot be played within it.
  • The custom level must have a name (it cannot be changed once it has been submitted).
    • A description of the level can be left blank, as it will automatically default to '(No description provided)'. It can also be changed, unlike the title.
    • If the title is left blank, then it will be automatically named 'Unnamed 0'. If the creator already has a level named Unnamed 0, it will be automatically named 'Unnamed 1', and so on.
  • The creator can request the rating (and thus star value).
    • However, they cannot request a sub-difficulty for Demon levels.
  • Before Update 2.201, the creator could turn on or off the copy availability of the level and could implement a password lock.
    • Levels last updated before Update 1.7 are never copyable, and levels updated after Update 2.201 are always copyable without a password.
    • The creator can also make a level unlisted, so it will only be accessible by searching its ID.
    • The creator can copy their own level even if it is not copyable.
  • Based on user ratings and suggested star/difficulty ratings from level moderators, the level may receive a star rating (1 creator point), a feature rating (2 creator points), an Epic rating (3 creator points), a Legendary rating (4 creator points) or a Mythic rating (5 creator points).
    • A level requires three submitted user ratings to receive a difficulty rating.
  • A custom level must be at least 10 seconds long, or it may be deleted. However, plenty of sub-10-second levels still exist.
  • A custom level must also have at least 2,000 objects, or it too may be deleted. However, plenty of sub-2,000-object levels remain.
  • A Geometry Dash account is required to upload levels since Update 2.11 to the server to prevent abuse.

Level IDs

[edit | edit source]
  • As of 5 October 2026, the level ID 150000000 has been surpassed, meaning there have been more than 150 million levels uploaded to the server.
    • Most of these levels have been deleted for various reasons, including user requests, moderator requests, or automatic server deletion.
  • The first ever level confirmed to exist is Level 1 by Zhenmuron (RobTop), with an ID of 91. This level was only on the game's beta server, and was deleted before the game's release.
    • Ultimate Destruction (misspelled Ultiate Destruction) by RobTop potentially had a lower ID. In the Geometry Dash teaser trailer, the level page appears with the number 3 at the bottom, which may be the level's ID. However, it has not been confirmed.
  • The first-ever non-beta level is Jump Frenzy by Zhen (RobTop) with an ID of 120. It was deleted a long time ago.
  • The levels with IDs 121-127 are completely unknown and were possibly test levels that were deleted before the game's release.
  • The oldest level still available on the servers and the oldest known level to be created by someone other than RobTop is 1st level by real storm with an ID of 128. It is not star-rated and has a Hard difficulty rating.
  • The third custom level was Easy peasy by Himmat, with an ID of 129. This level was deleted a long time ago, and its contents are unknown.
  • RobTop uploaded the fourth custom level, Spike Spike, with an ID of 130. However, this level was removed towards the end of Update 2.0 during a hacker attack.
  • The oldest star-rated level is chill out by TheRealDarnoc, with an ID of 146.
  • The oldest platformer level is second by SomeRandmGuy8, with an ID of 97454486. It is currently unlisted.

User level ratings

[edit | edit source]
  • A rated level can have its rating removed for various reasons. As of 24 August 2026, this has happened to 704 known levels.
    • Common reasons for a level losing its rating include: being verified illegitimately (such as using hacks or a secret way), being entirely copied from another level, being updated into something unrateworthy (such as being made into an empty level or immensely buffing the difficulty), and containing imagery and text that is offensive or inappropriate.
    • There are also many instances of levels that were later rated again after having their rating removed.
    • Only two known levels, Bounce by Toomis and Urban Street by Moonnix, were rated, lost their rating, were rated again, and lost their rating again.
  • RobTop can change a level's difficulty or feature status after being rated.
  • At the beginning of Update 2.1, even though the Demon rating categories were available to select, all of the Demon levels were automatically rated Hard Demon at first.
    • It was because the levels did not have enough votes to change their ratings.
  • In Geometry Dash World, before the featured tab was changed, every level after #141 (WaterFall) was an NA-rated level spammed by RobTop, most being both uncommentable and unplayable. However, a couple were still playable, with a couple hundred downloads each.
  • The XL length was originally named 'Extra-Long'. Update 2.0 introduced this renaming, along with a previously missing filter for searching XL levels.
  • The difficulty rating icons are based on the Newgrounds emoticons.
  • There have been several cases of levels' star counts not matching their difficulty faces. Currently, this is true for two levels, Luster by eopc, rated Easy 9, and Smetana by R4nz0r, rated Normal 9. These mismatches both occurred as a side effect of being downgraded from Demon to Insane.
    • In the older updates of the game, star counts below 10 were not locked to specific difficulty faces, and the difficulty faces could still be changed by player votes despite the levels being rated.
    • The level Twinkle by Hiroquet was originally rated Demon 38, before its star count was lowered to 10. This happened because RobTop mixed up the level's star count with its feature score.
    • In May 2014, there were briefly nine levels rated Demon 127. These levels were korv by HMANN, and korv2, wksld2, eoifiojewfiojweijofe, ewiofkopwefkopwekopf, really hard, ROBTOP FIX YOUR PHP, robtop fix server, and eoijfioejwfiojewiofi by Player. A hacker accessed the game's .php files and could rate any level with any star count. The nine levels were quickly deleted, and the exploit was patched.
    • In August 2016, ReTry by Preztiyu, a Hard 4 level, briefly displayed as Demon 4 due to a hacker attack on the level.
  • There were previously 15 levels that had feature rings but did not give stars. One of these levels, The First by Clatchet, was deleted sometime in 2020. The other 14 had their feature rings removed in December 2025.
  • Usually, having verified coins is a perk only rated levels get, but there is one level named Dark Angel by the user Rono, which has verified coins but is not rated. It is unknown how this occurred.
    • There was previously another level with this quirk, Hype Blaster by iIFrostIi. This level was rated, unrated due to a bug, and then rated again some time later. While it was unrated, it still had verified coins.
  • There is one rated level, Small space by thearmyants, that gives stars despite being a platformer level. While it appears to grant moons upon completion, reloading the save data converts them to stars.
  • When a player opened the comment section of a level, before Update 2.0, there was a button next to the creator's username labelled 'More'. Clicking this button lets the player view a list of the creator's levels. RobTop removed this feature in Update 2.0 because it encouraged players to create registered user accounts.

User level names

[edit | edit source]
  • RobTop can change the names of uploaded levels. This is usually done to remove inappropriate or offensive words from level names that would otherwise be rate-worthy.
  • When inputting a name for a user level on mobile, some vulgar swears (with some exclusions) used to be replaced with a hyphen.
    • Since the hyphen character cannot be typed into the search bar, user levels such as -sirius- that have a hyphen in their name cannot be searched by name and instead need to be searched through other means. This is why, in current versions of the game, swear words are entirely removed instead of being replaced.
    • All rated levels that included hyphens in their name had them removed when Update 2.0 was released. However, players could still type hyphens in their level names for some time. This is why every currently rated level with hyphens is from Update 2.0.
  • There are three rated levels with un-typeable characters other than hyphens: 1. Beggining of time and 2. PolarDream by XDream, which contain full stops, and GeoMerry Xmas by TiTi26, which contains an unrenderable character.
  • Sometimes, when uploading a level, the message would say, 'Upload failed. Please try again later.', even with an internet connection. The reason is unknown, and the only way to bypass it is to make a copy of the level.
  • There is a bug that sometimes occurs where viewing a level would show that the level requires a password, but it lets the player copy it for free.
  • The filters for searching for levels with a Legendary or Mythic rating were bugged, and sent the server the wrong filter (asks for Mythics with the Legendary filter and vice versa). It was later actually fixed server-side so that the filters provide the intended levels (the server provides Legendary levels when asked for Mythics, and vice versa).
  • Rated Auto levels will appear when searching for rated Easy levels.
  • Newly-rated Demon levels will appear when searching for rated Hard levels. They get removed from the Hard filter once they have enough votes to get their specific Demon difficulty.
  • The levels Grief by Moffe and GREIF by wdlucas were made unsearchable by name following the verification of GRIEF by Doggie on 5 October 2026, as any attempt to search 'grief' or 'greif' will instead redirect to GRIEF by icedcave.

Other

[edit | edit source]
  • Unrated levels will never have an Auto or Demon difficulty face.
  • Mana orbs are a currency that is gained not just for completing a level but for making progress. The player gets 80% of mana orbs for making progress and 20% for completing a level. Multiply the percentage by 80% of the orbs, then round to the nearest whole number.
    • For example, getting 54% in a Demon (500 orbs) means that 400 orbs are earned through progress. 54% of 400 orbs is 216.
    • A bug causes the game to give one less orb if the player achieves 53% or 59% on a level. It is due to the inaccurate way that computers process decimal numbers.
  • Many levels are unplayable due to the level's levelString being deleted by RobTop. A notable example is destiny of death by StarBombKR, which was previously rated Demon but lost its rating due to a secret way.
  • Five rated levels do not appear when searching with the star filter: Magnetar, New N3on, and Sky by SWEETBONANZA, Everlasting by Joath156, and Enchanted by JeruShimu.
  • Ten unrated levels appear when searching with the star filter: Bloodbath noclip, Devil Vortex noclip, black blizzard nocli, AA noclip, cataclysm noclip, Death Corridor nocli, Killbot noclip, and Buff This noclip by CoolManGame2, Critical Zone by SWEETBONANZA, and Smash by LucaGD12. CoolManGame2's levels appear on the filter due to a hacker attack, while the other two levels were previously rated but had their rating removed; they still appear on the filter for unknown reasons.
