Viprin, stylized as ViPriN, is a retired Norwegian player and Elder Moderator renowned for hosting official community events, including The Geometry Dash Awards, Gauntlet Contests, and Icon Contests, alongside RobTop. With over 130 rated levels, Viprin ranked high up on the Creators Leaderboard and was widely known for his contributions to mega-collaborations such as Artificial Ascent, HyperSonic, Yatagarasu, and Ouroboros.

Career

[edit | edit source]

Early beginnings (2014)

[edit | edit source]

Viprin began playing and creating levels in early 2014. His first level preview, Accelerando, was released on his YouTube channel on 15 June 2014, and the level itself was published and rated the following week.[1] This marked the start of a prolific career, with all of Viprin's solo levels achieving rated status.

In August 2014, Viprin became one of the first moderators of Geometry Dash, gaining the ability to send levels to RobTop for rating. His involvement in the TouchArcade forum, where RobTop interacted with players, played a key role in this appointment. During this time, Viprin also joined GeoStorm, contributing to projects like flap.

Rise to prominence (2015 - 2017)

[edit | edit source]

By 2015, Viprin had overtaken ZenthicAlpha to become #1 on the Creators Leaderboard.[2] While his solo output decreased during this period, he remained active through collaborations, including duo collaborations with creators like Glittershroom and Minesap.

Viprin also gained traction on YouTube, uploading videos of his own levels and others'. In late 2014, he hosted his first Creator Contest on his channel, which became a recurring success.[3]

Viprin's work on mega-collaborations began in earnest in 2016. He took over management of the level Artificial Ascent, originally hosted by LmAnubis, and later released it that year.[4] This project was followed by sequels like Digital Descent (2017) and Cybernetic Crescent (2021).

Viprin's leadership in community events solidified his reputation. In late 2016, he co-hosted the first iteration of The Geometry Dash Awards for Update 2.0 with Etzer, an event promoted by RobTop.[5] The event became an annual tradition and is now published on the official RobTopGames channel.

In early 2017, the mega-collaboration level Yatagarasu, co-hosted by Viprin, was verified and released by TrusTa.[6] Soon after, he would release the next two mega-collaboration levels in the Sonic Series, HyperSonic and SubSonic. ZenthicAlpha uploaded the prequels. Viprin faced criticism for allegedly 'hoarding' Creator Points by uploading so many collaborative levels. Members argued that featuring levels such as Artificial Ascent and the new Sonic levels under his account overshadowed other contributors, though supporters defended his role as project organizer.

In early 2017, Viprin, Etzer, and Michigun hosted the first official Icon Contest with RobTop. Over 20,000 icons were submitted, with the best added to the game after a community vote.[7] A second Icon Contest was held in 2020.[8]

Viprin also managed Gauntlet Contests, starting with the Crystal Gauntlet in 2017.[9] However, these events were not without controversy. For example, the 2022 World Gauntlet Contest faced backlash when levels like Planet X and Nivel ranked higher than community favourites such as BISMARCK. Judges, including Viprin, received severe harassment, prompting RobTop and Viprin to reorganize the Top 15 entries into three Gauntlets instead of two.[10]

Final years (2019 - 2025)

[edit | edit source]

In 2019, Viprin launched Sparky, a Discord bot developed with Sayajiaji. The bot features a minigame where users guess level names from images within 20 seconds.[11] In late 2023, Sparky faced criticism for allegedly monitoring servers to ban cheaters. Viprin and the bot's developer, zmx, denied these claims, stating bans were based on irregular gameplay statistics.[12]

Viprin's recent level releases have been limited to mega-collaborations, including Ouroboros (2019) and Quaoar (2022). On 1 December 2022, YunHaSeu14 surpassed Viprin's Creator Points record, ending his seven-year reign.[13]

In 2023 and 2024, Viprin collaborated with RobTop on several official projects, including directing the Geometry Dash 10th Anniversary video,[14] producing the Update 2.2 trailer,[15] and managing the NoCopyrightSounds (NCS) collaboration's videos and album levels.[16]

In early 2025, Viprin launched his final level, BUTTON MASHER, which was the finale of the NCS collaboration. At the end of the year, Viprin launched Rateon in collaboration with AutoNick. Like the bot 'UltimateGDBot' by Alex1304, the Rateon bot provides information about Geometry Dash users, levels, and lists in Discord.[17]

Retirement

[edit | edit source]

On 7 April 2026, Viprin announced his retirement from Geometry Dash, stepped down from all Moderator positions,[18] and uploaded his last video named 'My Favorite Level Per Year',[19] listing his favourite levels from 2014 to 2025.

Thank you for reading through my article! My story may be over, but yours is not. I hope that I can go onto this wiki many years down the line and see all the great things you have accomplished.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Viprin popularized a ranking system for user coins—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and 'Viprin Certified'—based on creativity and difficulty. The joke rank 'Cardboard' was coined for TamaN's Paperworld to mock its simplistic design.
  • All of Viprin's uploaded levels are rated. He is the highest-ranked creator with this distinction.
    • Viprin has the most rated levels without any unrated levels.
  • The release of SubSonic (2022) drew criticism for allegedly tarnishing the legacy of the Sonic Series. Viprin responded by publishing a parody version of the level.
  • Collecting the first coin in OuterSpace (Fire Gauntlet) reveals the message 'ViPriN is Triggered', a nod to Viprin's strict design standards.
  • Known for repurposing mechanics and decorations, Viprin earned the nickname 'Viprin + Paste', even referenced in the Community Shop credits.
  • Many of Viprin's early levels (e.g., Maestoso, Legato, and Largo) are named after musical terms, reflecting his appreciation for classical composition.
  • After holding #1 on the Creators Leaderboard for seven years, Viprin was surpassed by YunHaSeu14 in December 2022 following the feature of Wings.
  • Viprin announced Michigun's passing in March 2021, becoming a central figure in memorial tributes.
  • At the time of his retirement, all three people credited in the Community Shop—Etzer, Michigun, and Viprin—were no longer present in the Geometry Dash community.
