Codependence is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level by the members of TCTeam, initially verified by Kapinapi and ViralDl on 4 July 2020[1] and verified solo by Pukklez on 4 June 2023.[2] It is a 2-player level in which each icon completes the equivalent of an Insane Demon to an Extreme Demon.

Codependence was placed at #8 on the Demonlist and became the hardest rated 2-player level at the time.

History

[edit | edit source]

With TCTeam's permission, Kapinapi and ViralDL applied some nerfs before the level's verification to make it more playable.[1]

Many people initially thought the level was impossible to beat by a single player. In April 2022, a player named Pukklez began to attempt a solo verification of Codependence. On 4 June 2023, almost three years after Codependence's initial verification, Pukklez verified the level solo after 165,000 attempts.[2] Pukklez had used the W and up arrow keys for 2-player control, as mentioned earlier.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Pre-duals

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-8%: (Peroxide01 + Konsi): Codependence begins with a sync-based cube section at half-speed featuring simple orb timings (also with toggle orbs) and sudden size changes after a short ball section at normal speed (later at double-speed). The player transitions into a sync-based mini-robot at triple-speed, followed by a wave spam section at quadruple-speed, before being thrown into the infamous duals. The wave spam also features the text message 'Konsi', referencing the creator of this part.

69-77% (Yuki + Keyblade + GeometryTom) The first player enters into a mini-cube with a size change before the straight-fly with a gravity change at the centre; after a fast-paced wave spam segment, the first player returns to the cube being normal-sized, a short mini-ball and a mini-cube with a dash orb in which the player hits the ground at the beginning; after that, the first player transitions into a timing-based UFO, an upside-down mini-ship straight-fly, a mini-wave after a short mini-cube, and the first player returns to the mini-cube being timing-based. After a short cube, the second player enters a robot section followed by a ball for a short period before an auto-ship section; after this, the second player goes into a spider section followed by a mini-ship straight-fly before the green orb as the rest of the mini-ship section consists of manoeuvring through obstacles; after that, a wave spam section and a simple ship segment were also included on this part.
  • 77-78%: This section is only an auto part with a pink pad before the third and final row of duals.

78-88% (Pingui + Astion + Cultrix + Woom) Afterwards, the first player faces a mini-cube segment with over 20 transition changes in a mini-ball, a mini-cube, a mini-UFO, a mini-cube, a straight-fly, a mini-ball, a mini-cube, a mini-wave, a mini-ball, a mini-robot, a mini-ship, a mini-cube with two red orbs in the platforms, a wave, a mini-robot, a mini-cube, another straight-fly, a mini-robot, a mini-ball, a mini-cube, a mini-wave, a mini-ship and a mini-cube at the end; the entire gameplay segment is timing-based and has various gravity changes. Afterwards, the second player enters a mini-robot segment with over ten transition changes in a mini-spider, mini-robot, mini-UFO, an upside-down straight-fly, another mini-UFO, a wave, a UFO, a straight-fly with a yellow orb, mini-ball, mini-robot, a UFO, a mini-cube with a dash orb, a mini-ship and a mini-ball with a dash orb and sudden size changes at the end; all UFO parts from the bottom portion of this part are spam sections, and the entire gameplay segment is timing-based.
88-96% (Brittank88 + Eridani) This part is unique compared to other parts; the first player proceeds into a slow timing-based mini-cube transition, followed by a fast-paced mini-ball; after this, the level speeds up at quadruple speed as the first player goes into a short fast-paced mini-spider, followed by a fast-paced wave section; the wave section also includes an inclined wave spam segment, followed by a mini-ship straight-fly along with the second player. This part is unique compared to other parts; the second player enters into a timing-based UFO; the rest of the UFO transition consists of fast-paced timings, including a pink dash orb in which the player hits the ground, gravity changes and turns mini-sized for the rest of the part; after a quadruple-speed change, a spam based segment was also included; after a short mini-cube section, the second player returns to the mini-UFO with two last blue orbs at the end; after the UFO part (that also consists of few teleports), the second player goes into an upside down mini-ship straight-fly along with the first player.

Note: In Eridani and Brittank88's part, there is a text message saying 'rip skele :(', referring to GDSkele being removed from the mega-collaboration.

  • 96-100% (floppy + Yoonsr): The player transitions into a short cube, a short UFO with a gravity change, a robot with sloped jumps, an auto-cube transition, a ship part with gravity and speed changes up to normal speed and a cube with a triple-spike jump before the level ends.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Codepedence was placed at #8 on the Demonlist on 15 August 2023, above Firework and below Sakupen Circles.
    • This addition pushed no jokes into the Extended List and Silentium Clavas into the Legacy List.
  • According to Kapinapi, the top half (Player 1) portion is more difficult than the bottom half (Player 2).
  • Before the solo verification of Codepedence, the ultimate verifier Pukklez offered a bounty of 100 NZD (~60 USD) to the second player to complete the fourth dual (45.7-56.7%) solo.[3] The bounty was ultimately claimed by the player Batle, who accomplished the run on a 60Hz mobile device.[4]
  • Codependence, alongside Horros and Sides Of My Mind, was moved to the Legacy List on 15 February 2024 due to the temporary 2-player level guideline changes.
    • This change was reverted a day later, bringing all of them back on the list.
  • Codependence has become a running joke among Zoink's fans due to him famously avoiding playing it since it is a 2-player level.
    • Funnily enough, ZOINK NEVER CLEAR, the projected Top 1 level created by smarted for Zoink never to be able to complete or verify, has its gameplay almost entirely in 2-player mode.[5]
  • Cat became the first solo mobile victor of Codependence on 1 August 2026, completing it after over 430,555 attempts and over two years of playing, subsequently making it the hardest mobile completion in Vietnam.[6]
  • The placement of Make Paul Dance on 23 August 2026 pushed Codependence into the Extended List.
