Shukketsu is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration hosted and published by Yuko and verified by Baeru. It is greatly inspired by kowareta, with the gameplay consisting of fast-paced segments with many speed- and game-mode changes. Shukketsu takes a different approach to the kowareta-inspired formula by adding colorful art and effects to block designs, considered by some creators as the "art-core" style. The level is also somewhat meme-themed, with text displaying community memes, inside jokes, and sayings placed into the block design.

Shukketsu began as a kowareta-inspired layout created by Gablor (then Shuri), which Gablor canceled and made public. Yuko picked up the project and decorated the level. Shukketsu's first version was released on January 24, 2020, and set to be verified by Gablor.[1] After getting the motivation from participating in Fragile, Yuko began to remake the level in early 2021, altering some of the gameplay and adding duke, Lexy, and Zentraa to the project.[2] The level was finished and showcased on September 17, 2021. The level was set to be verified by lamp86, but they dropped it and it was given to Baeru, who proceeded to verify the level on April 3, 2021, after around 20,000 attempts.[3]

Victors of Shukketsu, such as Amza and Johnfree, describe the gameplay as challenging to learn but enjoyable afterward.

An official sequel to Shukketsu is in development, known as Kaikatsu.[4]

Gameplay

The gameplay of Shukketsu was made by Gablor.

  • 0-6% (duke): duke's part in Shukketsu consists of fast cube timings with many orbs to hit, including dash orbs to hold down on. Around 4%, the player becomes a mini-ship and must carefully fly between spikes with help from a yellow orb and a yellow gravity portal.
  • 7-29% (Yuko): Yuko's first part in the level mainly consists of cube timings with some ball timings and ship sections with orbs scattered throughout. The player changes speed slightly and often goes through teleport portals occasionally. At 27%, the gameplay speeds up to triple-speed as the title screen of the level appears in digital-themed font with a glitchy aesthetic.
  • 30-44% (Yuko): During this part, the gameplay is much faster than the previous part, being mostly at triple- or quadruple-speed. The gameplay consists of fast timings with constant game-mode changes between cube, ship, ball, and wave. Cube and ball timings are basic, while ship sections are short straight-flying segments, often with orbs. The tight wave sections at 29-30%, 33%, 40-41%, and 43-44% are full of gravity portals and blue orbs. The final wave section from 43-44% slows down the gameplay substantially as the player prepares to enter the following dual segment.
  • 45-52% (Yuko): Yuko's third part in the level begins with a short ship and mini-cube-dual, with a ship above the mini-cube. After the dual, a tight wave section begins at 47% and ends at 48%. There are some cube timings before another tight wave section at 51%.
  • 53-61% (Yuko): The gameplay continues from the previous part with a tight ship straight-fly through a Clubstep Monster made of the structure of the level. After some cube and ball timings, as well as a ship straight-fly, a UFO section begins at 57%, where the player has to make timings to go through a few gravity portals. At 58%, the player enters a tight mini-wave section, with some controlled spam through some slanted structures. Yuko's part then ends after a brief cube dual and some cube timings.
  • 62-78% (Lexy): Lexy's part in the level is fast and consists of ship and cube timings leading into teleport portals. The ship sections are full of orbs to hit and short straight-fly segments. The ship section at 73% is full of black orbs that must be avoided. A ball section follows this ship part before some slow cube timings.
  • 79-81% (Yuko): This part by Yuko is very brief, as it is only one tight wave section. This wave section has many gravity and size changes, along with it being deceptively tight.
  • 82-92% (Zentraa): Zentraa's part is full of structures that resemble the moving parts of a clock. The part begins with a ship section leading into a long mini-UFO section containing a lot of gravity portals and several orbs. At 87%, the player enters a brief ship straight-fly segment, followed by some cube and wave timings. At 92%, the player enters a brief spider section.
  • 93-100% (Yuko): The final part of the level begins with a straight-fly through a corridor filled with spikes before entering a wave section at 95%. At 97%, the player must straight-fly as a ship through a tight spike-lined corridor to complete the level. The end screen has the level's name on top of a bed of flowers with a purplish-blue sky in the background.

Trivia

  • The level is free to copy.
  • The level contains 107,048 objects.
  • The level is 1m 5s in length.
  • The level was initially placed at #19 on the Geometry Dash Demonlist on August 27, 2022, above Keres (#20) and below Kenos (#18).
    • This addition to the Demonlist knocked Crimson Planet out of the Top 25, Sonic Wave Rebirth into the Extended List, and Quantum Dynamix into the Legacy List for the second time.
  • Shukketsu means "bleeding" in Japanese.
  • The level's replacement song was originally Calm Loop by jding, but it was changed to increase the chances of the level getting rated, as Calm Loop is only three seconds long.
  • According to Yuko, Shukketsu's decoration was going to originally be a mash-up of all the kowareta sequels and spin-offs, but she discarded that idea.[1]
  • Popular YouTube content creator Wulzy released a video on August 1, 2022, called "Why is this Extreme Demon STILL UNRATED?" which showcased Shukketsu to get the level's attention. Shukketsu was rated less than two days after the video was released, which led many to believe that this video caused the level's rating.[5]
  • The level is filled with references. Some are easy to understand, while others are obscure.
    • Dedications to other players are spread throughout the level, hidden in the block design.
    • "Facil Dinero!" (meaning "Easy money" in Spanish) at the beginning of the level is a reference to kowareta, as the same text appears at the end of that level.
    • The pyramid with eight keys surrounding it is a reference to MindCap and the final part of LIMBO.
    • "360fps Startpos 0% Texture pack No wave pulse LDM" are names of several types of external hacks, including the in-game Low Detail Mode. Cobrablitz's name also being among the text may be a jab at him, as he is known in the community to be a major critic of hacks that players use to complete levels.
    • "SUB 2 CALLIOPE" references the virtual YouTuber Mori Calliope.
    • "guys omg its another kowareta level no way" is a joke about how many players in the community are tired of kowareta-inspired levels and dismiss them.

    • "Rate Quicksand" references the currently-unrated Extreme Demon Quicksand.
    • "Hardest Check!" references the phrase used in the community when a player claims a level's difficulty beyond their skill level. This phrase is a joke about how their hardest level completed is way easier than the level they are talking about, meaning they cannot properly judge the level's difficulty.
    • "Object 100,000" points to the 100,000th object placed in the level.
    • "and she said!!" may be a reference to the lyrics of xo by eden, which is a popular song in the community due to the level with the same name.
    • "Cristiano Ronaldo" references the famous soccer player of the same name.
    • "Hey mr. white What is it jesse Hello Heisenberg" are references to several characters from Breaking Bad.
