Silent Acropolis is an unrated 2.0 former impossible level by Danmaster007, published on 14 November 2015. It is based on Zobros's 1.9 Insane Demon Acropolis, which gained popularity for its iconic tricky half-speed gameplay and is considered as difficult as upcoming Top 1s, such as GRIEF and Amethyst.

History

[edit | edit source]

Silent Acropolis gained initial popularity in 2015 when it was showcased by ToshDeluxe, who was then commonly showcasing impossible levels, and the video amassed over 480,000 views.[1] Early that next year, the level is featured in a now-deleted video from Mike4Gaming, a part 2 of his impossible-level compilation, which amassed over 1,800,000 views.[2]

The level garnered very little attention until 2017, when Electro2001 hack-verified a challenge under the name 'Silent Acropolis Ch'. The challenge consisted of the entire unnerfed last wave and was considered the hardest challenge level for a significant time in 2017.

Later in 2018, MetaManRB verified 'The Acro Challenge', a slightly buffed version of the final wave, and it would be the actual hardest challenge on The Challenge List for half a year. UFokinWotM8 would eventually be the first legitimate victor of 'Silent Acropolis Ch' in early 2020.[3]

The level regained attention when, in late 2022, SeptaGon7 began publishing videos of him playing and getting runs on the level.[4]

The new progress would bring the level back into public attention, eventually reaching Danmaster007, who decided to make a nerf-date to it, balancing some of the more difficult parts to make it 'humanly possible'. This version would not last long, as it significantly nerfed the level and left players attempting to beat the original version uninterested.

Danmaster007 would revert the level to a version closer to the original that same year, only nerfing the second jump, the infamous second-to-last UFO click, the upside-down jump in the last cube, and removing the unintentional empty gameplay at the end. It is the current version uploaded to Danmaster's account.

The Purgatory's version of Silent Acropolis was announced in late 2022, bringing attention to the original version, and SeptaGon7 also set multiple new world records. Despite this version being easier, there would not have been much progress on The Purgatory's version for a while compared to Danmaster's version.

World records

[edit | edit source]

The first notable records outside the wave challenge on Silent Acropolis were KugelBlitZ 14-23% [5] achieved in October 2020, and, more importantly, SeptaGon7's 20% world record in June 2021, which would be the first of many from them.

Since SeptaGon7's 20%, the world record holder has only changed hands once. In January 2022, WatchPiggy set world records of 21% and 22% on the 18th and 19th, respectively. SeptaGon7 reclaimed the world record two months later, with 24% on 15 March, and has not lost the title of world record holder since.

SeptaGon7 achieved 55-100% on 16 August 2022, 27% on 30 October 2023, 29% on 14 May 2024, 30% on 27 May 2024, and, importantly, 32% on 8 July 2024, which was the first time someone had passed the ship part (the hardest part) from 0%.

Although bop claims to have 31-100% on the level (which would be the world record run to 100%), this is the official bug-fixed and nerfed version of the level, which nerfs some of the most difficult timings in the level.[6] SeptaGon7 has the best run to 100% on the original, unnerfed version of the level, with a run of 43-100% achieved on 4 January 2025 (comparable to 47-100% on the bug-fixed version and 40-100% on the redecorated version), which also includes the hardest click in the level (360FPS frame-perfect in Update 2.1) at the end of the UFO at 55%. This run cemented SeptaGon7's completion of the original version in two runs.[7]

SeptaGon7 soon switched to playing on Update 2.2 after staying on Update 2.1 for a while, and he realised that Update 2.2's physics seemed to make the level significantly easier than it was in Update 2.1. He also began using the Click Between Frames (CBF) mod because the level is actually physically impossible without it as of Update 2.2. He extended the record to 54% and got a run of 27-89% as of 2 April 2025.[8] He then achieved a record run of 27-100% on 16 April 2025[9] and then a world record of 66% on 3 August 2025.[10]

Description

[edit | edit source]

N.B.: This description uses the current version of the level with different percentages than the old unnerfed version.

  • 0-16%: Silent Acropolis begins with a half-speed cube section containing multiple gravity changes and tough orb timings. The player then becomes a mini-ship and must briefly manoeuvre before returning to a cube.
  • 16-25%: The player enters a ball part where they almost immediately enter a blue orb spam and work their way through corridors. The player enters a normal-sized portal with many tight ball timings before transitioning to the next part.
  • 25-34%: This part starts with a normal gravity mini-ship section with numerous difficult mini-ship straight-fly segments and timed ascensions and descensions between spikes. The ship's gravity constantly changes, adding to the difficulty, and teleport portals appear at certain points. It is considered the hardest part because the gap between the straight-fly corridors is extremely tight.
  • 34-43%: The ship transitions into a normal-sized cube dual to enter the drop with an extremely difficult micro click to start. The dual then transitions into a singular cube part that turns into a ball and a mini-ball. After which, the player turns into an upside-down mini-cube, transitioning to the next part.
  • 43-51%: Another ship part with the same spike balls but fewer gravity switches. Orbs are prominent in this part, almost as frequently as the gravity portals.
  • 51-60%: A mini-UFO part with slight spam in some sections occupies this section. After that is a short yet tight pink orb corridor, followed by the hardest click in the level that involves jumping between a tight spiked corridor and another last click to end the part.
  • 60-68%: A pink orb leads to the start of a mini-ball blue orb spam before the player must perform many clicks to travel from the ceiling to the floor and then to a tight mini-ship straight-fly spike corridor.
  • 68-79%: The player enters a cube section where they are almost immediately turned into a normal-sized cube and switch between cube and ball for some tough timings before the last drop.
  • 79-100%: The final gameplay section consists of a wave part that fluctuates frequently between a mini-wave and a normal wave. Many spike balls and tight, dungeon-like corridors are in this final part. The final gameplay of the level ends with a mini-wave spam corridor.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The first ship part is generally considered the hardest part; however, the last second-to-last UFO click is considered the hardest click by far, an alignment 360FPS frame-perfect in Update 2.1.
  • Despite the commonly assumed, The Purgatory's version is easier than Danmaster007's version as it was nerfed multiple times following updates, bug-fixes, and balances.
    • Although the original Silent Acropolis is harder than some other upcoming Top 1s, the nerfs to The Purgatory's version are put into question if it is as well. It is currently projected to be a Top 5 level.
  • Some people speculate that Silent Acropolis is a directly buffed version of Acropolis. However, this is not true; Danmaster007 made it from scratch using the original level as a reference.
  • Silent Acropolis is an implied open verification.
    • It has never had a verifier as it was generally considered humanly impossible for a long time.
