Deimos is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted and published by EndLevel and verified by npesta on 17 February 2019.[1] It is a redesigned and super-buffed remake of the unnerfed version of Phobos.
History
It was initially set to be verified by EndLevel but was dropped when he had temporarily quit Geometry Dash. The verification was passed to Skullo, who achieved a record of 81%.[2] Following this record, he heavily buffed the level but later dropped it. Crazen took over and attempted to verify it himself. He dropped the level. Later, Dr. Joe would verify the level using obvious noclip,[3] before Skullo quit Geometry Dash entirely. A player named npesta verified Deimos on 18 February 2019.[1]
Gameplay
- 0-4% (InsanE): InsanE's part starts with a decent memorization cube section with fading blocks. The difficulty of this part is still the same as Phobos.
- 4-8% (Cypher): Cypher's part adds shaking triggers and a black and white theme. The wave segment has changed to make the spaces frame-perfect compared to Phobos.
- 8-13% (SQRL): Another cube section similar to InsanE's part follows up but is slightly more challenging and needs more crucial timing.
- 13-18% (Straw): Next, the player enters a confusing single-speed UFO segment with orbs. Here, the player requires precise timing and jumps to pass. There are specific parts that can be skipped here.
- 18-26% (Splash): Afterwards, the words 'Critical Error' appear at the top left corner of the screen, and the player enters a difficult half-speed ship segment with somewhat very tight spaces. This segment has numerous gravity changes and mirror- and speed portals that could confuse inexperienced players. Near the beginning of this part, Splash's name will be seen.
- 26-32% (KugelBlitZ): Then, the player enters a challenging double-speed wave segment featuring numerous tight spaces and saw-blades.
- 32-39% (BoldStep + Electro2001): Afterwards, the player enters a tricky mini-ball segment that requires more timings and jumps, especially switching gravity at the very end of platforms to avoid a spike on the other side. Next is a very tight wave segment, followed by another tricky one with gravity portals. Here, BoldStep's name flashes once halfway through this wave segment.
- 39-62% (Zenith): After BoldStep's part, the player becomes a mini-ship that has to manoeuvre through a lot of columns with spikes at two heads with numerous speed changes, and gravity changes and some size changes. After going through a narrow corridor, the player switches to a mini-wave at triple-speed that requires precise spamming. Then, the part slows down. The player must go through a precise gravity change and then enter the first structure using the secret fake block path and the second one with the visible path but with many crucial timings. The player must then enter the UFO portal by hitting the blue orb next to it, and then the player must use the fake block path while at triple speed. The player immediately enters a half-speed part that contains portals with yellow orbs. Then, the player must manoeuvre through a diagonal, narrow path with a size change. Then, the player enters a triple-speed wave with a gravity change. The speed changes again. The player enters a segment that contains tight spaces and portals that go with orbs, some of which they must not hit. After a brief wave, the player becomes a mini-ship dual, containing a difficult transition and multiple straight-fly segments with speed changes, and then the player enters a mini-UFO/mini-ball dual that starts with a pad. The player must then go through complex ways and crucial timings.
- 62-68% (Failure444): Next, the player enters a single-speed ship segment featuring clusters of saw-blades and many gravity portals and yellow orbs requiring precise timings. Then, the player suddenly enters a UFO segment with numerous gravity portals and even more orbs.
- 68-74% (TrueOmega): The player must go through a narrow passage with a red orb they must not touch as a mini-ship. The speed changes, the player becomes a mini-wave, and they must go through with precise spamming. The level darkens to red, and the player becomes an upside-down ship and must straight-fly and then becomes an upside-down-mini-UFO requiring to time multiple pink orbs along an on-block path. The player then switches back to normal size. The part ends.
- 74-79% (Hexhammer): Hexhammer's part contains multiple, inconsistent speed changes, size changes, some teleportation, and the player (which is a ball now) must go through crucial timings not to hit the spikes. Near the end is a label: 'Hexhammer.' The part ends.
- 79-83% (Metalface221): The part starts at a corridor that has a few timings involved by invisible tiny spikes. The player suddenly turns into a UFO at double speed, which has to go through lots of gravity portals and size changes, requiring lots of skill not to collide with the spiked columns and the saw blades. Then, the player enters a brief pink orb and a last blue orb. The player must enter the blue gravity change portal instead of going through the other one. The part then ends.
- 83-90% (Zenith): The part starts with a ship green orb timing. There is a label that indicates the creator, Zenith. After the green orb, the level slows down for a bit, and the player transitions into a mini-ball with difficult timings and a blue orb at the last second. The player enters a triple-speed ship segment, which requires consistent straight-flying to go through spikes and saw-blades. The level then suddenly slows down. Here, the player turns into a robot and must jump precisely through two spikes and go through two blue orbs, which turn the player into an upside-down cube that must hit the pink orb hidden under the spike. There is also a tiny spike that floats up the time the cube hits the platform. The part ends after the player hits a visible green orb and takes a little break before reaching the yellow gravity portal to transition to EternaswipVMAX's part.
- 90-97% (EternaswipVMAX): The second to last part is a non-sync triple-speed mini-ship/mini-cube mixed dual section, where a large cluster of small invisible spikes and blocks, portals, pads and orbs can be seen. Crosses made out of gradient decoration can be seen. This part is considered one of the hardest of the whole level. However, this is surprisingly easier than it looks, as it primarily uses memory and minor timings to conquer this part.
- 97-100% (EndLevel): In the end, at the final ship stage, it will have a blank walk away, and the screen says 'Trust no one, not even yourself' and feature two pink humans with one pointing a gun at itself.
Notable Completions
- npesta beat the level without dying at the infamous last asymmetrical dual because he had practised it a lot, beating it multiple times in a row.
- He beat and uploaded a version of the level containing the asymmetrical dual ten times in a row.
- WhiteChocolate did a jump from Phobos to Deimos.
