This is a list of levels in chronological order considered by the Geometry Dash community as Top 1 based on collective opinions and, later, Demonlist placement.
While many of these levels are currently unrated or deleted, some are re-verified, rated and uploaded onto the account of their verifier. Because the subcategories of Demon ratings existed in the 2.1 Update, Top 1 levels that are deleted or unrated before Update 2.1 will use the default Demon rating (File:Hard Demon.png). The current Top 1 is marked in boldface.
1 Level was re-verified and published by a different uploader later on, and possibly rated after.
2 Level was hack-verified, but remained rated due to having a first victor.
3 Level was unrated or deleted, though possibly re-uploaded by a different player.
4 Level was buffed or nerfed at some point in time after being uploaded and taking the Top 1 spot.
5 Level became a Top 1 temporarily under particular circumstances: either due to being deemed harder initially, but being moved down nonetheless; or the former Top 1 was moved down.
6 Because Element 111 Rg was deleted and forever lost in time, the currently uploaded version is the theoretical version that Stormfly and the Restoration Union have created in hopes of restoring the level.
Trivia
Element 111 Rg is currently the only Top 1 yet to be beaten.
Digital Descent and Bloodlust are the only Top 1 levels that are Epic-rated.
Bloodbath is the first Top 1 to remain the hardest level for over a year, followed by Bloodlust, which reigns as a Top 1 for 383 days, and later on by Tartarus with a total of 527 days (418 consecutive days).
Hard Machine, arcturus, and Silent clubstep were all moved above the Demon that was Top 1 at the time they were rated; however, it was too late for them to place at Top 1.
Trueffet was also moved above Tartarus too late to have been Top 1; however, it was later moved back down.
arcturus was rated and placed alongside Firework and Slaughterhouse, both projected to be Top 1. Collectively, these levels are known as the '3 top 1', despite arcturus initially placing below Tartarus.
Arctic Lights and Devil Vortex were once accidentally placed as the Top 1 of the Demonlist at some point but did not count as the hardest level.
↑Because this level, To the Grave, and Extreme Park (two levels considered harder) were all rated together, it probably means that this level would not have been Top 1 if a list of the hardest levels would have been present at the time.
↑It is currently unknown as to which levels between BP Night and demon world was rated first, hence it is currently debated.
↑↑ Sonic Wave has been at the Top 1 for two separate times; first, during the 1.9 update where Cyclic hack-verified the level and second, when Sunix re-verified the level legitimately on November 25, 2016, where it was temporarily dethroned multiple times.
↑↑ Slaughterhouse was thought to be verified on October 24, 2021 by spaceuk, however he was exposed for verify-hacking the level over a year later on April 25, 2023. Retroactively, Slaughterhouse was verified on December 19, 2021, by Doggie due to spaceuk's confession to verify-hacking the level; hence the verification rights were given to Doggie instead.
